How many times...

do you pass the flatiron over your hair??? I was watching a few you tube clips where they passed the iron over 2-3 times, though they used a heat protectant... does anyone else do more than one pass? (maybe that's why my hair never looks "silky")

I pass the flat iron over my each section twice, first time over the whole length of the hair (from root to tip) and te second time on the ends.

Well I'm transitioning,
>>>sigh<<<
....but when I DID flat-iron I'd pass over once. I'd concentrate on the roots then bumb the ends.

Unless you're using a cheaper iron--and hey I ain't knocking the cheapies cause I love-ed-ed my CONAIR--there's no reason to pass over 50 times.
Especially with a CHI or a Sedu those irons get hot...

ditto. my ends like to coil so it takes an extra pass, sometimes 2  but after that i give up... if it's not straight by then, i know the ends probably need to be trimmed due to knots/splits/etc.

About 2-3 times, some sections of my hair start to revert during the straighetning process, so I have to go over them more than once.

If I'm just trying to knock the majority of my kinks out: 1 pass
If I want silky straight results: 2 passes (or even 3 sometimes)

Since I have a Jilbere titanium iron, I use 3 passes. Once at the root, then again from root to past the mid-way point, then from root to tip.

I am transitioning my 5 months post, majority texlaxed hair with and inch or so of bone straight relaxed ends. So, yeah, 3 passes are standard for me.
