It depends. I always buy 4 just to be on the safe side, but somebody always ends up using 2 packs for something like that. I have a very small head too.

It depends on how long you want them and how much hair you have. When I got box braids, I would always need 6 packs of hair. I wanted them mid back length.

I usually use 6 packs of hair for medium, mid back length braids.
