Biotin do you take? I am adding that to my daily vitamin regimen. Well...not really a regimen, I take prenatal and want to add biotin. I was wondering what the avg was for you ladies?

TIA

I take 15mg (three 5mg capsules). I've taken this amount off and on for years. I've never noticed anything from biotin one way or the other. The pills are really small capsules so it's easy to swallow. I've continued to take it "just in case" it is making a difference in my hair, skin and nails.

I literally just started taking 5mgs or 5000mcgs of Biotin daily a few days ago. Only thing I've noticed so far is that my skin is starting to clear up, but I don't know if thats from the biotin.

I would'nt start off with a large dose. Biotin gave me a bad case of acne.It took me a few weeks to figure out it was the biotin and by then my face was left with a lot of acne scars. Other ladies on here and you tube have also complained that their faces also broke out.

I was taking only 100 mcg a day. I guess my diet already provided my with enough, so I threw the bottle away.

How many mgs of Biotin is people taking? How long before results are seen with taking 15mgs per day.

I take 5 mg/5000 mcg a day and honestly haven't seen any results yet. I just take them because I have them, but once they're gone (bought a BUNCH of bottles when Puritan's Pride had a Buy One Get Three Free sale) I probably won't re-order.

I have scalp issues, and 5mg of biotin is usually prescribed by dermatologists for patients with hormonal alopecia, chemical damage or something 'lacking'. I think it's not as helpful for 'normal' people just looking for growth, because I have definitely seen a BIG difference. I heard lots of horror stories on here about people getting severe acne break outs, so started taking Biotin in small doses.
I started at 1mg for about a week, then moved up to 3mg for a week then moved up to 5mg.

When i got up to 5mg I started to get small complexion spots (bumps on the surface) and the odd zit, which is weird because I don't really get spots much anymore. However, they're not really that noticeable and went away when I started to drink more water.

I've been taking it for about 4 months, and while my skin looks more healthy and glow-y, it has taken me back to my teenage oily skin. As far as hair, it has definitely gave me some new growth and very soon after taking it I noticed my hair get darker/stronger from the roots.
