how long your roller sets last?

Depends. I'm natural. I think you're relaxed, though. Anyway, If I flat iron before a set, it wont last a day. My straightened hair is too fine to hold a curl even with a lotion. It was the same relaxed.

A wet set on my natural could last up to 4 days before it reverts. For setting lotions, I've used:

-Lottabody: the best so far, but unfotunately causes me breakage. real smooth set. resists reversion pretty well

-Mizani: Not as good lotta but a good set. Forget it if its raining or shower steam gets under my shower cap, though. reverts pretty quick.

-Mixed Chicks: Really good. Best reversion control. Decent smoothing. Unfortunately, you gotta use heat to 'activate' it, otherwise it doesnt do anything for reversion.

10-14 days

I don't roller set for the curls so I'm not too concerned with holding products. I look at roller setting as another alternative to air drying since I get less tangles and smoother results. I prefer a light bouncy set as opposed to a hard crunchy set...so all I use is a liquid leave in and as of late a serum....any will do really but I prefer it's a 10 leave in and Carol's Daughter Macadamia serum.

I'll only wear it as is if I did the set early enough in the day and have somewhere to go. However, since the bulk of my hair is natural (2 years post)...after a set I try to immediatly moisturize and then throw it into 3 bantu knots to stretch out the roots. I'll wear it down 2 days then in a ponytail/bun for a few days...do a braidout then repeat the cycle...down 2 days then ponytail/bun for a few days until it's time to re-wash. I'll include a pic of my last set.

When natural, 3-4 days. When relaxed, a week. I rollerset for the curls though

DarkJoy have you ever tried a combo of LottaBody and mixed chicks? Are you talking about the mixed chicks straightening serum? I used LottaBody and chi silk infusion but my curls only lasted 3 days. If the mixed chicks works better I may have to get some and use it with LottaBody.

Yes, the MC straightening serum. Works decent for curl sets since my hair reverts with a quickness BUT you have to use the heat. Since it's a heat protectant anyway I guess it should be OK. I'm just nervous about it. I tried it both with & without heat. Without heat, it doesnt do much for reversion control and of course the set isnt very smooth. I havent tried mixing MC and Lotta GettingKinky. I'm afraid to as Lotta can break my hair off pretty bad. Maybe I should try diluting it more. Just trying not to take too many risks.

1-2 weeks. Have used setting lotion and setting foam, both works nicely. Lately, I've been using KeraCare Foam when setting.

DarkJoy do you think the heat from a hooded dryer is enough to activate the MC serum?

When I use LottaBody I use a 1:4 ratio on soaking wet hair and my sets haven't come out crunchy. I'm even thinking of trying 1:3 next time for better hold.

3-7 days. LOL! My hair gets oily on day 3. And after 7 days it is not fluffy and looks weighed down.

3-4 five tops. But I work out 5 days a week.

I use miss Jesse's quick curls, coconut oil, shine shine spray and a water bottle with a little detangler.

2 minutes :perplexed At least it feels that way. My hair doesn't hold curls and I am yet to figure out why.

I normally rollerset on Saturdays. I normally get a light, fluffy rollerset as I do not like the hard crunchy feel. As soon as the rollers are out, within 5 minutes the curls start drooping.

If I want a curly look for Sunday, I have to pincurl immediately after I take the rollers out. By Monday, forget about it! I bun my hair most days anyway as I workout most weekday mornings. The story of my relaxed hair life :ohwell:

3 or 4 days, only when I use a setting foam lotion. I currently using Nairobi and I have used Bronner Brothers in the past. I also use flexi rods or pin curls to maintain the curl.

GettingKinky, I dont have a hooded dry so cant say. It might work if you blasted it on hot for just a couple of minutes

Well I did my first set this weekend and it lasted 3 days...but I did it on an old stretched mini twist out and I lightly spritzed with water and used lotta body...I think it would last longer on clean hair though...
