Hey Ladies,
I want to get a redish color rinse, and I was just wondering would it be safe to leave it on for 1 hour under a hooded dryer and plastic cap? Also should I deep condition before, while, or after I use the rinse? Any suggestions / tips....

Thanks Ladies
Lorraine

I'm fairly sure you can leave rinses on for as long as you want, the longer the better for the colour taking.
I would deep condition after the rinse.

I don't see how leaving it on for an hour would be helpful. What brand of rinse are you using? Most say to leave on for 20 min. under the dryer for maximum penetration. I could only see making your hair hard leaving it on longer (the color will dry into the hair).

Deep condition before the rinse because doing it after will leech some of the color, plus color holds better on well conditioned hair. I would also suggest using porosity control before the rinse so that you get uniform color.

Thank you ladies for your responses. I am planning on using Sebastians Colorshines in a redish hue. I guess I'll deep condition before hand...

Thanks

actually you should never put a rinse into wet hair the color will not take at much.

I asked my hairdresser and was told the longer u leave it in the better.I have left them in over night...or for two hours under a medium set dryer. My color took very well and I get alot of compliments on the color.I deep conditioner after i rinse out the color and do a final conditioner rinse and my hair come out great.:)

Wow Golden,
Even 2 hours, under medium heat with no bad results. I also never thought about applying it to dry hair...hmm I'll give it a shot;)
BTW Your hair looks Fabulous
YOU GO GIRL!!:)

I would have to disagree. I use sebastian colourshines and i find that when i condition beforehand, then the color doesn't take as well. I also find that you should let your hair airdry to about 30% wet and then apply because it doesn't take well on sopping wet hair either. I really like colourshines because when i do use it, i find that my hair doesn't break as much. i use the cinnamon color. which color do u plan to use?

I agree. I also use the Cinnamon color. Sebastian directs you to wash your hair first before applying the rinse. It is worth the high cost.
