How long have you had a relaxer? For naturals, did you used to relax? For how long?

I've had a relaxer for 14 years.

Ain't no shame in it, if you ask me. I know that at anytime i can stop relaxing if I wanted to. I am no slave to relaxing.

But I wear textured styles constantly and am trying to stretch my perms to just 2 or 3 a year. I am looking for a happy median (don't you love the optimism)

The first chemicals introduced to my hair was the jheri curl when I was 16 from there I went to perms....the last time I permed my hair was in 1997, I've been natural since then. Total years of using perms was 14.

I've been relaxer-free for 2 years and 8 months. Before that I was relaxed pretty much as long as I can remember. My hair is relaxed in my kindergarten pictures but not in my preschool pictures, so I must have been 4 or 5 when I got my first relaxer. I was almost 21 when I got my last relaxer.

I've been relaxed since 4/6/2005. This is the longest stretch of relaxing in my life Stylists in the past overprocessed, underprocessed, and cut me to death in a matter of weeks, and sent me back to the hot comb. Thanks to LHCF I've been self relaxing and happy
