When I was twisting my hair alone in a foreign country, I would dread wash days because it meant I would spend at least 2-3 hours on my hair just twisting. Now that I have people helping me on that, I don't worry agonize as much. But I realize that having MBL and WL hair will be pretty tough to take care of eventually. More time twisting, straightening, washing etc. I want to know from the people that are BSL and beyond, did your hair drive you crazy? Was really dificult to wash, condition, and style? How did you cope?

I'm WSL now and I have come to realize that this length is starting to make my styling routine a little difficult. I might have to stop all curly styles altogether because it's making my crown area shed too much.

Rollersetting the back is a pain because I have to stretch out my arms real far. Once it's straight it's easier to manage. My goal is hip length so I won't be cutting my hair over a few bumps in the road. HTH!

Whoa... I didn't know it made it shed more in certain areas. I know the stretching your arms is a real pain. What about conditioning or washing? Is it harder to make the conditioner soak in? Harder to clean and detangle the hair?

It definitely takes a little more time to deal with. I'd say when it hit around BSL+ I had to start making some real adjustments.

Twisting takes a while but I cheat alot too. Instead of trying to twist my entire head at one time I'll do around 20 twists then over the next day or two start breaking them down into smaller twists. Make sense?

So start with 20 chunkies that night then break each one down into 1 or 2 smaller twists. Usually the hair is still damp but if it does dry out I just spritz with a little water and keep it moving.

Blowdrying and/or straightening takes a lot more time but it's not horrible. I work in small sections. I don't blowdry sopping wet hair so that saves "some" time.

Washing and conditioning, same thing, small sections. It probably sounds like working in small sections would take a lot of time but it actually isn't as bad as it sounds.

Styling sometimes can be a pain with longer hair. When hair is on the short side you don't have to worry so much about keeping the bottom sections of your twists or braids separate while working on the top half but once it's longer, you better or you'll wind up with your ends all tangled up.

You make adjustments in technique and time but it's really not that big of a deal. Just know it's going to take a bit more time and don't rush yourself.

HTHs and definitely, HHG!

just past BSL it starts shedding more but i wouldnt say its difficult to manage ,i find medium lenght hair much more difficult to handle from nape lenght to APL its a struggle to style it without flat ironing

My God, your hair is so drop dead, freakin' gorgeous.

I think my hair was more difficult when it was shorter, because I tried to do so much with it. Now that I wear my hair down or in a ponytail 99% of the time, I don't have to deal with it so much.

It's all in the regimen IMO.

LynnieB - your hair is so extra super duper beautiful! :)

:lachen: LOL - it's always open but I haven't been into it as much as I used to but it'll always be there to share my journey with my hair growing sisters.

Lynnie B, so help me god if you ever chop your hair off.

Naw - no plans for that any time soon.

Thank-you ShyIntellect ;)

Ladies on-the-grow, don't ever let anyone tell you what you can or can not do!! Don't even bother trying to explain it to 'em 'cause most won't believe you anyways, just DO IT then own it, hear me?! :yep:

Flowerhair - I think this is the first time I've ever seen your hair straight-straight and hangin' over a chair like that. Good lawd girl :pant:
