Usually, not important at all. How your hair looks isn't usually all that clear in photos - and certainly not clear enough to be the determiner of whether a question can be answered. The description of how your hair feels, how it reacts to water, how it combs, what products you use, what 'sensitivities' your hair has that you have noticed, how much heat you use, what chemical processes have been done to it, etc, etc, etc are a heck of a lot more important for most hair health question than what it looks like.
If it's a styling/style related question, then yes, pictures are definitely useful there.
It's helpful if someone is explaining a techinque, but otherwise I can gather what the person is saying without a photo. I will admit...I do love hair porn though. It inspires me
I strongly agree with the ladies about the pics, but at the same time if someone ask questions about what we think regarding the change and improvement of one's hair, it is vital to see the comparison shots via photo's!
When it is just for general advice (not an assessment of the hair's appearance), I prefer a description of the hair's condition and the issue over a picture. That helps a lot more.
When I think back on the threads I give the most advice in, they don't contain pics usually, so for me, the presence of hair porn doesn't really have a bearing on whether or not I'll answer a question. If I believe I have good advice/experience, I pitch in, and if I think I wouldn't know what I'm talking about, or can't help, I don't.
I think pics are only really necessary for second opinions on length checks, how even ends are, whether a color looks nice, etc.
In my observation, when advice-seeking threads without pictures go unanswered, or don't receive detailed and relevant advice, it's because the OP was not clear and descriptive enough, not because they did not post pictures. It is hard to help when you don't have enough information, or when the the OP is not clear.
I prefer to see pics. I am a visual person, however, if someone gives a clearly defined questions or answer, I am okay with that, but will still want to see pics.
Meh, I think if someone is giving advice that they can get across without pics, then it's really not necessary. Most people are good with their words. If they're describing a technique, then pics can be helpful, but if they can get their description across clearly, then I don't need pics.
Can I ask why you asked this question? Is there something you're struggling to understand?
Most important is the person's hair regemine. What they do to their hair is more important than how it looks Posting pics however is suggested to grab people's attention. I know I love's me some hair porn!
