How does a trim translate.....

To cutting my "V"? I was getting my hair done professionally this past Friday (I typically do it myself), and the stylist mentioned I could use a trim (she was right, because it had been since January and the ends were a bit frayed). She put lots of curls in it, so I didn't pay much attention, but when the curls went flat, I went was looking in the mirror and noticed that it seemed a bit shorter. I touched it from one side to the other, and noticed that my hair was even all the way across. Um, am I missing something? I thought a trim was basically to remove dead ends, not do whatever you want to in my head :perplexed

Girl, I thought you knew. Stylists will do what they please with your head if you don't watch them like a hawk :nono:

I was thinking she'd just trim the dead ends. If I say CUT, then I would expect to leave with two inches missing, but at TRIM? My hair wasn't in such horrible shape that it would require her to even it off like that. My hair has a strange growth pattern, anyway, so there is no point in cutting it to the shortest part, because the part that grows faster is still going to overtake the rest. That's why I prefer to do my hair myself :ohwell:

Girl you have my sympathy. I have a V also! People always want to cut it saying that it makes my hair look uneven. I tell them when my hair is past my goal length, then I MIGHT cut off my V. I had to but some shears from Sallys to trim my own. Maybe you should buy a pair too. So sorry......

So sorry this happened to you. The same thing happened to me in March! I'll be trying a different stylist in June when this 12 weeks is up and this time I will not be timid! I will take the advice of these ladies and be proactive about my hair and make it clear what I want and what I do not want. Don't touch my V!
