How do you tweak Crown and Glory?

I am getting braids after my BC sometime next week and want to do C&G until I reach my hair goals. I tried the original plan as laid out by the website. My hair was so dry I had to cut off just as much as I grew. I see some ladies have tweaked the method so it works for them. Could you guys give me some trial and error hints?

I don't leave my braids in for long and I noly take them out for a couple of days before I put them back in. I also use different produtcs.

I am so glad I discovered C&G; it has worked so well for my hair. Ultimately, you have to take care of your hair the way that works best for you.

I kept my braids in for 2 months sprayed my scalp with surge to help with growth when it came time to wash i had this really big 32oz or larger cup with a handle that i would take into the shower with me fill it half way mix the conditioner around with my hand than fill it to the top pore this on my head clean my scalp than i would take sections of hair dunk my braids in to the cup get them real good and wet and than when it was time to get out the shower i would bun my braides to help with the weight

i sprayed scurl down my braids to where my own hair would stop and worked it in than braid spray and infusim 23 and surge on my head

when i took my braids out my hair was nice and soft had no build up
i took them out because i got tired of re braiding and washing my hair

i believe i co washed my hair like 2 times a week i think i followed her directions with the rebraiding though

I make my own moisturizer with vegetable glycerine. I mix it with Aloe Vera Juice and spritz my braids at night with half of the moisture spray and half of the Infusium 23. My hair is always moist. You have to saturate the braids and if your hair still feels dry bring the amount of Infusium down.

In my moisture spritz I put about 1/5 Vegetable Glycerine and 4/5 Aloe Vera Juice. I also added peppermint essential oil and spray on my scalp from time to time. I wash my hair every two weeks and I prepoo with ORS Mayo for a couple hours and with heat sometimes. I have had my braids for a month now and I don't have any buildup what so ever, I rebraid a few braids weekly to keep them fresh.

Last night I did a scalp massage with emu oil and a cocktail of essential oils. My scalp feels great this morning especially since it is very humid outside.:D

:) This is my regimen:
  • The style stays only 5 to 6 weeks on my head!
  • Moisturize once a day or every other day with my homemade lotion in a spray bottle: Spring water(500 ml to 750 ml)+oils(carrot, almond, avocado, olive, castor) 2 or 3 teaspoons for each oil+glycerin(100ml)+Le KaÏR cholesterol (10 teaspoons)+Essential oil(ylang ylang or rosemary or lavender)30 drops or perfume oil
  • Once /week : Cowash with diluted conditionner(cheapie) then I moisturize and seal with oils.
  • Pre poo(with henna+indigo when i feel the need to), shampoo and deep conditionning moisturize and seal every 6 weeks after removing braids with extensions, weaves or other style.
Get the style redone immediately after airdrying!
  • My braids are NOT TIGHT and i re-do the front and the back every two weeks!
  • And I'm my own braider!
    ;)

i don't use any of the products she recommends... but then again i'm natural not relaxed.

i switch between only braiding up my natural hair and braiding with extensions. i also switch between cornrows (2-4 weeks) and individual braids (6-8 weeks). i only use Wild Growth Oil on my hair while it's braided up. this summer i want to try out emu oil though... so we'll see. :D and i still co-wash just not everyday... more like 2x a week.

i only give my hair 1 week break in between braid styles before rebraiding. but my natural hair is strong enough for that... i don't recommend it for everyone.

I redo my cornrows every 4 weeks, and I'm natural I co wash my hair weekly also, use braids spray and infusim 23 everyday and I use her afro detangler every day. I also, deep condition under the hair drying. I use carrot oil and mango butter for my ends and use baggy method and that's usually keep my hair moist. O yea I use MTG everynight for growth and hair vitamins:D

think thats all:look:

Thanks for responding. I can't the password for your album.

You're the third person to tell me that and I finally figured out why... I took it out of my signature. That's usually where I keep it. The Pw is Phyto (w/ a capital 'P'). I'll put it back in my siggy.

My hair was ultra dry and breaking into tiny little pieces before I put my braids in so, I didn't dilute anything. I did pre poos and co washes as if I didn't have braids in. I basically treated my hair as if I didn't have braids for every aspect from daily conditioning with Hollywood Carrot Creme and EVOO to baggying and MTG application.

I did a clarifying shampoo at the end of the first month and once again when I took the braids completely out. I only used shampoo twice a month but co washed three times a week. When I finally took my braids down, no itsy bitsy breakage and it was easy to detangle and almost no build up. My new growth was actually manageable! Which really surprised me because I used to relax every 5 weeks and I am 16 weeks post.

I am a newbie to this board but have been wearing braids on and off since 1994. This is the best condition my hair has every been in after a braid take down. HTH
