How do you style your hair the day before and the day of a relaxer?

I'm new to the relaxing business and I am curious as to what would be the best style. I know that I'm not supposed to bother my scalp the day of the relaxer, so how do I style and it not look pretty horrible. Daily I use my denman to push my hair up into a bun. Is that to much manipulation? Hmmmm.......

Well, before a relaxer I wash and detangle my hair so I try to either keep it in a loose bun or braid so that it's easier to section. After the relaxer, I rollerset.
