How Do You Measure Your Hair

This is the one thing, as a lurker, that confuses me the most.

I used to measure from root to tip before I got layers cut in. I'd see people with measurements the same as mine with APL and my hair is midback when stretched.

I thought I was some freak of nature or something.

I have been measuring using one of those hair measurement t-shirts. But, I've lost weight recently which changed the fit of my t-shirt and messed up my measurements. Actually, I don't think that was the best way to measure anyway, 'cause the shirt would always be positioned differently and I could never get a consistent measurement.

I think from now on I'll measure from my forehead (starting at my hairline). That seems like the most reliable way to measure.

I measure from hairline to ends. I do it this way cause I know my hair line is the exact same starting point every time.

This is the same way I measure too. I measure from the middle of my hair line (where my widow's peak is) to the ends of my hair in the back. I do this with my hair combed back.

I measure from root to tip which is why I have different measurements depending on what section of my head I'm measuring....

Hair measurements suck... Ive seen armpit on some people and think to myslef ist that collar bone? Or bra strap on some people and say isnt that midback?! I like the inches measurments better... I measure from forehead back.

Couldn't this also be due to the difference in people's heights? Example, I am about 5' 2" so for me to reach bra strap does not take as much hair length in inches as it would for someone with a longer torso.

I think the best way to measure is from forehead (hairline) back. Unless of course you have a big head, you may actually need to have more length than someone with a smaller head to reach APL or BSL. I wouldn't think that the length of your torso would have anything to do with it.
