Do you measure hair length by measuring from hairline at forehead to tip of length down the back, or from measuring from the top of the head to tip of length down the back?

Shawn, I measure from the root to the end on various strands/sections.

i tried to measure from root to end of strand but i keep coming up with 14 in.and when i look at other peoples hair pictures they have the same length as mine but in inches they have a a bigger number.

is it different because of height? im 4'9.

I think where you hair 'falls' at (waist, mid-back, shoulders) depends on one's heights.

When I used to measure my hair, I would measure from the front hair line to the ends (to get the number of inches). It's easier for me to measure from the same spot (from hair line) than to try and measure from the same spot within my crown area. These days, I just go by where my 'hair falls' and not by inches.
