How do I know when I should trim. I want to know if its necessary.

I trim when I see split ends. There's no repairing that.

i trim when the ends of my hair start to snag on each other. i can see this most clearly when i undo a twist or braid and it doesn't unbraid as swiftly and cleanly at the end.

I do a combination. I dust (1/8" to 1/4") every 8 to 12 weeks. And I do as the previous poster mentioned, dusting when my hair starts to snag.

I trim when my ends are split/ uneven and like others have said when my hair is tangling that's a sign for me that I need to pull out the scissors.

I try to trim/dust once its been 8 weeks and I remember

but I forget a lot.

I dust monthly to keep ssks at bay. I trim when I straighten my hair and have see through ends, or if my ends feel hard, dry, and crunchy. My last trim was...probably over a year ago. I've been dusting since then.

What's the difference between trimming and dusting?
