When I use products that contain sulfur my face breaks out, I want to make sure that is what's causing it. I don't get the product on my face, I just start seeing bumps on my cheeks and forehead, I stopped for a week they went away, started back using the product and they are coming back again :(

Anyone else have this problem?

That is not one of the symoptoms of allergic reaction. That sounds like toxins being removed from your system. Are you drinking A LOT LOT LOT of water everyday to flush the MSM out of your body. See like below. from www.supplementnews.org.

see the section titled:
Sulfur Toxicities and Deficiencies at the bottome of the page.

I would suggest if you have any of these symptoms to call your doctor too get an analysis from her whether they think you need further testing. Good luck sweetie. I pray that you are not allergic.

Are you ingesting the sulfur or applying it to your scalp? If applying to your scalp and it is in an oil base, you may be getting some of the oil on your face and your pores may be getting clogged. Use an astringent or witch hazel on a cotton ball to cleanse the area to make sure that you are not leaving any product on your face. That could be the culprit.

I'm not taking MSM, I'm using boundless tresses, this is the first time I used a product that has sulfur in it. I only put a little on my finger tip and rub it on my scalp, I make sure not to get it on my face. I stopped using it for a week and it cleared up, I started using it again this week and this morning I started seeing the bumps come back on my cheeks. Maybe it is something else, but I haven't changed anything else lately:perplexed

I do drink a lot of water, maybe my body has to get use to it, I'm only putting it on my 1 or twice a week and a little on my hair line.

You could apply a skin toner to your face after you apply and make sure that when you touch your hair you are not touching your face right after. I have caught myself doing that a couple of times. Even adjusting my hair and then like leaning my chin on my hands or scratching my face could cause the oils to come in contact with my face. As soon as any type of oil touches my face I end up with a big bump in the spot where the oil was a day or two later. After I started using skin toner again 3 times a day I don't have the problem anymore because the toner draws oil out of the pores. I do in morning, afternoon, and before bed.

I'm allergic. I get itchy and I get random hives in different spots all over my body. It doesn't have to be where I applied the product.

I was given medication before with sulfur in it. I got red hives all over my neck and arms. I had to go back to the hospital. It was so bad the nurse couldn't find my vein so I had to get an IV in my hand and Benadryl shots. I was told that if I hadn't come back to the hospital, I could have gone blind from the allergic reaction. I now STAY AWAY from anything with sulfur in it.

If your allergic to sulfur you could go into allergic shock immediately or get a reaction like hives. Different forms of sulfer are found in foods like sulfites. Usually medicines have sulfonomide antibiotics which are different from the stuff they put in food, but also could lead to extreme allergic reactions. There is a case of a womans skin falling off due to a sulfer allergy. Her skin on the outside include the internal skin layers completely fell off due to her extreme allergy. Amazingly she lived and her skin grew back. So I guess if other symptoms develop like rashes or shortness of breath I would get allergy tested, or stop using sulfer.

I did a search about the woman. I don't know if there are two cases, since all I found refferencing the event is one. The woman died. Sulfur allergies are no joke. Poor thing. :(

That's weird, I recently increased my msm intake. I have been taking a teaspoon a couple of years now. Just two weeks ago, I began increasing it to a teaspoon and a half, and shortly after that, I got a couple of huge stubborn bumps on my face and one on the tip of my nose--horrid. I felt like I was going back to my pre-proactiv days.

I am going back to my teaspoon.

Ok, from reading these stories I don't think I'm allergic, I haven't broke out in hives, so I guess there is some other reason my face is breaking out, funny think is it has ony happened when I use this product, but I like the product so I will continue to monitor it.

Thanks ladies for your respones.

The woman I lived was a young woman, I saw it on medical incredible on discovery channgel. The doctors say her new skin is equal to that a new born baby!
