How do you get over the APL hump?

My hair currently APL length. Its not even all the way around but i would say about 90% of my hair is APL ( the other 10% is catching up from the hot comb hair dresser mishap last spring that i posted about:look:). I am:
  • 4a natural
  • wash once or twice a week with elucence
  • conditioner wash about every other day with dominican conditioners, kenra mc, or hair mayo (slap em on for 15 mintutes to an hour and then wash out)
  • Heavy protein every six weeks (APHOGEE)
  • deep condition with Kenra MC
  • Occasional cassia, amla, indigo treatments (henna making my hair too straight)
  • Usually wear my hair in a bun and on weekends actually do a real style (wash and go)
  • Use knot today or elucence as a leave in
  • Use KCCC or Curls spiral cream and Fantasia IC as a styler
  • Occasionally use shealoe/fantasia as a styler
So my question to ya'll is how do i get from apl to brastrap and beyond. it feels like my hair is stuck here I 've got about 4 inches to brastrap. But yet i don't get much breakage if at all and my shedding seems normal. About 20-40 hairs when i detangle. Could this possibly be my terminal length? Im a 4 year natural and grew from a fade to APL in 4 years ( with a some trims in between)............:ohwell:

Join the club!!! I feel stick also. I have been apl for a couple of months. I really feel like i am not seeing any though mom says she sees it. It seem like my hair is trying to be an even apl all over. I guess that is better than just having a small section but dang it. I want bra strap length this year!!!! Sigh....:perplexed

I'm feeling a little stuck, too. I really shouldn't feel bad because my hair's made great progress and I'm grateful to have any hair at all.

For me, I decided to grow my hair from scratch in April of 2005, doing a gradual BC over the next year. So basically, the back of my hair went from 0 to APL (in the back, at least) in about 21 months. The front and sides have some catching up to do. But, I feel like my growth has stalled.

I guess, like a weight loss plateau, I need to up my game and change things up a little. I've been inconsistent with my vitamins and nutritional goals, so I will try harder and increase my water intake, too.

But, you know what "they" say: a watched pot never boils. So, I will ignore my growth issues the best I can. I'm sure, before I know it, I'll have hair down to my waist! :D

NEVER GIVE UP! NEVER SURRENDER!:lol:

:perplexed, you mean to tell me there's an APL hump??? All this time I was thinking that the tricky part is SL to APL and from then on it was smooth sailing... I think I need to go lie down now..:ill:

i have also reached APL recently and hope get growing to BSL this year. But i think it will even up 1st to full APL before i notice my length reaching my goal.
All i have been doing is bunning, it helps me to forget about how much its growing.

YA Know!

I used to feel the same way but stick with it ladies. I was like 1.5 inches past APL but my ends were jacked up so I had to trim so I am back to APL. Hope that I get there by end of this year. I have just stopped protective styling cause I really wanna enjoy my hair.

I sailed thru it via buns and my pinned plait (see my Fokti protective styles). I didnt even realize exactly when it happened, but i know i was "claiming" it just before i had reached it.

Funny, Funny:D

I'm happy this was posted. I feel like I'm about to be at APL for a while. Guess I should get more serious about bunning it up.

Any other suggestions?

Aww, girl BSL is gonna sneak up on you before you know it! Seriously!!!! It just happens like one day.... u look in the mirror and you're bra strap. I promise you. :)

I am really trying not to focus on reaching APL. I just take my vitamins faithfully, wash, dc and baggie. Now when June comes and I am not close that's when I'm going to start getting anxious. I'm like 3 inches from brastrap according to my daughter so I hope to atleast be an inch away or there by June but for now I'm just parlaying and keeping my hair protected and moisturized. I'm also thinking about getting some tree braids in June to help me stop focusing on my hair so much:)
