How do you fight the urge to use heat!?

I still haven't gotten over it. I think I might need to start bonelaxing so I can get a sleek rollerset. On the bright side, I always use protein when I want to flatiron.

I don't know how long it takes you to flat iron, but the fact that it would take me two hours to blow dry and flat iron is a deterrent. Also, it would not last long before becoming all fluffy so that would led to having to flat iron it everyday to maintain it. Definitely too much work for me.

1) I'm trying to grow out the heat damage in the front of my hair

2) If I flat-iron, or have access to one, I'll be more tempted to do regular length checks. I think it'll ruin my motivation and keep me from concentrating on only cleansing, moisturizing, and protecting my hair.

nope, i don't fight it. if i want to heat style, i do so. but i have put away my blow dryer. that comb attachment was the debil! i air my hair first, then i flat iron. in moderation, flat ironing your hair, using a safe temp isn't going to kill your progress.

I have trouble fighting it too. What helps is I'm texlaxed so I only have 3-4 good weeks after a touchup where my roots won't loot up and revert. I enjoy those times but I have rules. I only flat iron clean air dried hair, I use heat protectant and I use the comb/Chase method so I only need two passes. I also won't do any touchups with heat. I always wrap my hair at night. I've been flat ironing maybe twice a month since July but have still been maintaining and making progress.

Sent from my HTC EVO using LHCF. *sigh* auto correct

I just want to let you ladies know, I resisted the urge and it has now passed! haha

I'm gonna do a braidout tonight! :)

@Danniquin, maybe you should get a few wigs that look like the tempting looks and plop the wigs on when the look be calling you.

I personally rarely get the urge to wear straight hair. I'll admit I appreciate the speed with which I can style straight hair, but I get bored of it in a week. What's more, all the work it takes to get hair straight when I spend less than 5 mins on my hair a day is enough to make me not even want to be bothered.

You girls help me! I haven't straightened my hair in a little over a month, and I thought I was doing good...but them I saw Gabby Union on the cover of People Mag with her hair nice and straight, and the urge just hit me!

I want to flat iron it so bad, but I'm trying to stay away from heat.

Somebody talk me out of it :lachen:

ok Ill keep it simple,,,,

seriously is your hair shedding from the flat iron? are you deep conditioning a lot?
I'm not gonna say I'm gonna neva do heat.... after I relax & condition next
month I will blow & air dry.
... after that it will be straight so I wont need to blow dry or flat iron.....
I was shocked last weekend.
I washed & put my hair in 2 plaits & rolled the ends
they was straight..... :yep: but you can clearly see the new growth....
if I wasn't throwing a wig on it.
I would take my curling iron & lay it on the top scalp part so you can't see the waves....( different textures):nono:

Last night I gave in! The regrowth was so thick I wasn't able to get through the density.
I want to say I regret it...

Wake up super late for work so there is no time to do anything else to my hair than a bun or jaw clip. Though I'm not sure my boss likes this method.

You mentioned forming a habit of no heat. That's a big part of it. Also, have you figured out how the air dry your hair pretty straight?

I deep condition once a week, sometimes my hair does shed. The biggest problem with heat for me is, Once I see my hair has gotten longer, I get so excited and want to wear it out all the time which leads to me damaging it!

No, it dries really puffy :ohwell:
