How do you feel about Psychics?

Relentless

Reinventing
Hi Everyone,

I am a follower of Christ, but I was wondering something. How do you feel about psychics? Also, I can't find in the bible where it says you are not supposed to consult psychics or medians. I do not not understand how some psychics, such as Sylvia Browne(who is on the Montel Williams show every Wednesday), can be do good and help so many people and know things.

Anyway, just wanted to get feedback on how on some of you feel about them.

It is several places that you should not consult soothsayers etc for knowledge of the future. You need to go to the Lord with your questions.

It also says they should be killed  but we won't go down that road.

But I do believe there are people who can see into the future but of all the psychics out there, only 1% have the gift. And they shouldn't be using it for profit or for any reason.

It's a terrible thing to find out you're going to have a bad life...whether you will or not. These things can have a lot of power on a persons mind.

And personally, I think Sylvia Browne is full of crap. Her talent may or may not be God given.

Psychics don't tap into the spirit realm using God's Spirit. If it's not God's Spirit than it's demonic. No thanks.;)

Read about the girl following Paul around who was possessed with a spirit of divination starting at Acts 16:16 and read about Saul in 1 Samuel 28.

The Father will guide all believers in what their future( and possibly that of others) holds by His Spirit. Of course He doesn't lay it out all at once but it happens all the time.:)

False prophets and liars. They are communicating with 'familiar spirits' who speak familiar events which has occurred in ones' life and speak the future based on generalizations.

Dueteronomy 18 speaks of this...

9 When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.
11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee

What about those, such as myself, who tends to have visions and prophetic dreams? Does that make me a psychic? I don't consider myself a psychic because I damn sure don't know everything but my experiences is more advanced than de ja vu; seems like I know how to tap into my third eye. Is there a difference between a psychic and those with visions? If so, what is it? Not trying to start anything but I am curious. :)

Psychics do not acknowlegde God as far as I know, and even then there are those that claim to be prophets but are false. I was always told if you wanted to know something about your future you ask God and if you do not get an answer then you are not listening to him or do not like what you hear. God never tells other people about your future unless he has told you many times and you will not hear him and do what he says, then he will bring along a witness who is God fearing and knows of Him and they will tell you the same thing that God did. But the amazing thing about it is they will not know what you are going through or what you have asked God they will just know the answer.

According to scripture, what you are experiencing may be this...

Joel 2:28 (King James Version)

28And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

I used to have something similar, but not so much anymore. I would always have these dreams I never remember until it actually happens. I would think, I've been here before or I've seen this before, and then it would come to me that it was in a dream. Those dreams I don't remember until I'm actually reliving the moment.:perplexed

Thanks for the replys..very interesteing and enlightening.I'm going to check out that link Pam Pam. Just to be a little more clear, I have dreamt of people who either are involved in my life now or will be in the future, as well as dreaming about my daughter 9 years before her arrival and dreaming of my mother's, aunts, grandparents and cousin's deaths either a year before a for few months prior to their death. With the exception of my daughter, most of my visions have not been happy ones. One vision that sticks out is my dream of the Armageddon/ The book of Revalations. Let's just say that it is nothing what I imagined it would be and that it is awesome and awful at the same time; if that makes any sense. I guess I should be afraid but I am not.

The same happens to me so much I dont even think about it anymore. I used to try to figure it out, if it was a dream or something, but now I just shrug it off, and smile to myself because of the familiar feeling that comes over me when something happens.

I think at some point everyone experiences moments like these. I give God the glory and say the Holy Spirit has prepared me for this moment and keep going.

When it comes to psychic and astrology and all that backdoor witchcraft, it's better to not watch it, not read it and associate in anyway with it. It's best not to be familiar with it. This stuff has a way of inching it's way into the lives of people.

Somewhere in my psyche, I think "self-proclaimed" psychics with a dime store shingle and storefront are full of manure. Now give me Aunt Lulu with a shack deep in the woods, with no price other than a pie and gossip, I'll take that. Or give me grandma Maize who "gets bad feelings" from time to time, usually at the RIGHT time.

I just can't get into someone who tells me "give me five bucks and I'll tell you your future". It just seems wrong somehow.
