How do you do twists?

I have a little longer than shoulder length hair. I have tried to twist my hair but can't seem to get it right. Does anyone have a good website I could go to or just good directions on how to do my own hair in twists. I kinda just want to to the front part of my hair and let the rest be loose. Any suggestions...Thanks

I am searching online for instructions because I dont think you'll understand mine on how to do it. I'm a very complicated person. :\

okay well my search was very unsuccessful, so i'm going to try and explain this as best i can.

doing flat twists is actually very simple. what i do is i'll part my hair (usually a very small section) and if you want to use gel, put it on the piece of hair before you twist it. i hold the hair at the root where the front of the twist will be, and start twisting (doesnt matter which direction you twist in). I grab more hair and continue twisting until I get to where i want the end of the twist to be. (Be sure to hold the end of the twist very tight (not so tight it hurts though) so it doesnt unravel or become loose when you put the rubber band on it. That's about it. Was I any help? :/

I think so. So you don't have to keep grabbing pieces each time you twist as if you were trying to grab pieces of hair to do cornrows?
Also you said you parted your hair... did you start in the middle with the strand of on the sides?

Well, I know a girl who does her twists in the same manner you would cornrows, but I dont and mine come out just fine.

I've never twisted my all of my hair, I alwas just start from an off center part and do one side and wear my hair like that. Is that what you were asking?

Yes. I will try your way and see how it turns out. I didn't want to do my whole head..just the top part of it.
