How do you determine APL?

Hi Ladies,
Do you measure APL according to where the hair falls on your back? My hair in the back lines up with my armpit but the sides are about an inch shy of armpit. Because of this, I determined that I was just past shoulder length. Is this correct?

Most people measure by the longest part of their hair. So yes you are APL congrats! When the sides catch up you will be FULL APL!
