Good morning ladies,

I have been transitioning for almost a year and I still have no clue what I'm doing. Smh... I've posted a few times but I mostly lurk.

Anyway, I was looking at products and tools I may need and decided I need to change my brush. Which denman should I get for very course, dense, 4b(I think) hair??

Also, how important is it that I know about porosity? How do I determine my hair porosity?

my two cents re denman brushes

denman d31 for medium thick coarse dense curly hair. I have this one

denman d41 for long thick coarse dense curly hair

there is a white denman knockoff sold at CVS (can't remember brand) -- remove ever other row to modify it and it will resemble denman d31

Thank you for the help. I'm so ready to bc if I can't get this detangling under control. Seems to go much quicker at the root, those ends are another story.

You can also find the white knock-off denman brush at Walmart and your local BSS. I believe the brand is called "Annie". I've purchased these for as low as $1.99. Cosigning with Choctaw for mentioning removing every other row on the knockoff and it works just as well as the original.

I don't know much about porosity but I think it has to do with having your hair maintain a certain pH. You can use Roux porosity control. I used to use it when I was relaxed. Its been a while so I can't remember if it ever made a difference. I have some still left in the bottle, so I'm going to try it on my now transitioning hair.
