It looks like a twistout, but all my twistout attempts do not come out like this.

I am thinking maybe flat twists, but I am just all thumbs when it comes to those. I really love Corrine Bailey Rae's hair. I usually manage to do a Corrine knock-off do but this one is eluding me! I would be so happy if i could do this. Please Help!

Thanks in advance.

if not flat twist...

Medium to big twists for a twist out

or

Bantu knot set with medium to big sections.

section carefully and lift at roots gently with wide tooth comb or pick to create volume, or turn head upside down and shake gently for volume.

this style is very cute. my hair is shorter, but i might attempt

I have no idea but I LOVE her hair. That is definitely one of my fav styles on her.

TY ladies, I am going to try a couple of times and document. If I get it right I will post in here.

omg that's is gorgeous! Definately a twist and curl. So pretty. Can't wait to see your results!!

Been brainstorming. You probably need to do this style by starting dry and streched. Like blowdry first or if you don't like want to use heat then band and let it dry over night then perform the twist and curl using the least amount of moisture possible, just wet enough to set your hair.

It looks like a blown out twist n curl(the ends only)

I used to do this style all the time when my hair in its natural state was too short to frame my face...

I Agree with the other ladies.. it definitely looks like larger flat twists to me done on stretched/dry hair.

I wish you much success on achieving the look, it's really cute! Be sure to post pics!!

I'm going to try to reproduce this style too. I gotta wait a few weeks though because I'm in the process of moving and my blowdryer is out of reach. Hopefully, I can get it figured out by May, I have a graduation to attend. This style would be cute.

Flat twists with bantu knots on the end it looks like. It looks really smooth so maybe on rollerset hair?

I sort of achieved this look after blow drying my hair and twisting it up prior to flat ironing. I told myself that I would try this style.
I think doing twist on blow dried hair, no flat ironing, then bantu knots, will reproduce this style.

flat twist out, big ones.....or big twists.

I obviously do not have her texture, but my hair came "close" to looking like hers with some big twists. I am sure if I had used a stronger holding agent, didn't use a humectant based moisturizer for my hair, and didn't have a high shrinkage rate, it would looked more similar:

Ya'll better not laugh lol, but I think it is similar for a 4a/b afro textured hair gal -I see you laughin  *shrugs*

^^^I see what you're saying and I think your hair looks really nice. I'm 4b too and there is probably no way my hair would turn out like Corrine's, even with a blow dryer.

Ya know right. She has very fine hair strands and I have coarse hair strands and she has a looser hair texture. It ain't happening captain...

I've done something similar to my hair once (not as much body) and I had twisted my hair on dry hair. I didn't blow it out, but it was on second day, slightly stretched hair. I may try it on blown out hair at a certain point...

I Know This Thread is OLD!!
LOL:lol:

But Corinne Bailey Rae Actually says how she creates this style in her interview:

http://www.curlynikki.com/2011/10/corrine-bailey-rae-i-wanted-to-start.html

:lachen: this is so funny. i do that exact same things when I want to wear my hair out like that. it takes about a day and a half and two days (best!) if you want your hair to be completely dry and set in with that braid-texture. when you unbraid, voila. and to put a braid at the crown is perfect- that's how you get that fullness at the crown and in the back of the hair b/c the part doesn't land there, giving it that flat effect. nice write-up!

i did a version of this when my hair was shorter. it was flat twist out on blown out hair. because of my texture i had to blow it out for that smooth, yet big look .

i used ORS smooth and hold ( a small amount) to set the style and did about 10 flat twists.

watching my tut makes me wonder how it would look on my hair now :scratchch: drats, my no heat, protective style challenge

I like the fact that she only redos every 7 days or so because that's the reason I avoid twists. Everywhere I read it's like twist every 2-3 days and I'm very low manipulation. I may try this after leaving my protective style (and reaching my ideal length. Don't want to switch up what works for me.).

That's essentially a braid out? She said she puts like 5 braids in her hair. Leaves it in for 1-2days takes them down. When she does that her hair is still lightly damp and it kinda does it's own thing to form her style. Well I can't do that lol. My shrinkage and this medium length hair fine strands. No way.

excuse my typos i hate it as much as you.
