How Do I Create This Style?

So yes, I'm style challenged and can't, for the life of me, figure out how to re-create this style. How is that hump at the top done? Some kind of ponytail? Bobbypins? :perplexed :lachen:

Of course I can do the front with the middle part. That's simple....but I need help lol

Or you could offer another hairstyle suggestion for a bridesmaid:yep:

From what I see it's a chignon in the back and a ponytail with the remaining hair at the top, with a center part in the front. I'm no expert, but it seems like dividing your hair up into 3 sections and smoothing the hair down first, and twisting the hair up with bobby pins, with the left over hair at the crown pulled into a ponytail or with a clip and then fluffed. I think that's it.

U take the back and lift it up to do the high pony tail. And then you take the front two pieces and draw them back to make the bun. And then you pin the pony tail down to the bun. If that makes sense.

The hairstyle in the picture looks like a modified french twist to me - to reproduce you'd need to use a curling iron to curl the hair under (like you would for a bob hairstyle), then do the french twist and secure with a barrette across the top, the curls are left out and arranged. The closest youtube video I could find to this is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rYGWjPhPMA

If you have problems forming the french twist free handed like the woman in the first video, you can use the technique in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssXYG9N7Zv8 and stop at 1:50 and secure across the top with your barette/clip

Hope this helps

That was my first attempt if anyone is interested. I did a very high ponytail but I guess it wasn't high enough to get the lift that she has in the OP. I do have a bumpit but it wouldn't stay so far back on my head:ohwell:

Sheena I didn't see your post until after I tried this. The french twist in that video doesn't look hard to do so Im gonna try that after using flexirods, as I'm not good with the curlers either.

I think I'll get better results with this tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iX0xzqpIsjo&feature=player_embedded

but I'm going to change it a bit to look like the attached picture. If that doesn't work :spinning:, I'll try the french twist:yep:

I used to do this style a lot.

You part the front and section it from the center part down to the back of the ear and section off with clips.

Then, section your hair, horizontally across the back that's still out. secure the bottom section out of the way from the top.

With the top section, make a high ponytail, and fan out the top, securing the fanned out part with hairpins.

Take the bottom and french roll up and secure, then bring the sectioned center part sides and incorporate them into the roll from the french roll bottom part.

I will try to find pics of when I used to do this on straight hair and individual braids. I did something similar with stretched natural hair the other day. it was super cute!
