how come when i straighten my hair it never comes out good like all the other ladies on here. I self relax it comes out dry (albeit straight) and never moves (do you know what i mean?) when you turn your head and your hair follows i think i have type 4b hair. help would be appreciated as i want to straighten my hair again after 8 months

What brand of flat iron are you using? The cheap ones doesn't straighten as well as the higher quality ones, unless you can find a really good knock-off.

I co-sign on this. I just bought a Paul Mitchell Ion Express Pro (super expensive but worth the money). Before then I had a $75 cheapie iron I got from a mall kiosk that took at least 5-10 times run through to get it straight, and the first sign of humidity my hair puffed like a cotton ball.

I don't think a super expensive iron is needed to get hair straight.

I own an $80 h2Pro iron and it works just fine.

I have noticed that when hair lacks health it lacks that swing...How is your hair? regimen? maybe moisture is the key?

Exactly! All you need are:
1. healthy hair strands
2. the right products for your hair type
3. apply the right amount of product for your hair type
4. excellent skills and technique with your heated appliance.
And your hair will come out salon-perfect every time!:yep:

oh wow, what do i use on my hair?

anything and everything really.

i use dark and lovely super
most of the time my hair is in braids bt i never use any product

until recently

when i remember i use a mixture of 2 tsp sulphur powder and leave in conditioner. rarely condition because i thought that made my hair dry. i am just about to home straighten it again. what do i use? and how do i do it?

I was having the same problem as well. When I leave the salon my hair had swang, but when I flat-ironed at home it was not the same at all. I have a professional iron (Sedu) and I use salon quality products and organic products. In the end my stylist told me to use a blow dryer instead of air drying before flat-ironing and that made all the difference in the world with my hair.
