How can I tell if I have fine hair or not?

New York's Finest
I'm beginning to think my Hair is fine and not as coarse as I once thought. I notice it's so delicate I mean really but I'm not sure if it's just the softness I'm feeling or what. Is there a way to tell or a link on here or something where I can find out? Thanks

The diameter of a strand of hair usually refers to the size of the strand, fine, medium or thick. I have fine hair and can barely see one strand of my hair. I have to practically hold a strand of my hair up to the light to be able to really see it. When I compare my strands to my friend's strands, her hair is thicker in size and each strand almost looks like thread.

My hair tends to be very light, airy & wispy. It's so easy to blow in the wind! It's also easy for my hair to be over moisturized. My hair is fragile and will break if you blow on it too hard, lol! Does this sound like your hair?

When you speak of coarse hair then you are referring to the texture of the hair. My hair is pretty soft, but I don't know if fine hair is necessarily soft as a rule.

I don't have a link, but I hope this helps to get you started.

I have fine, 4CZ, natural hair. It was once delicate and would easily break before I started my HHJ. But since using henna/ayurvedic powders, SAA and hydrolyzed wheat and oak proteins on a regular basis, my hair is strong, soft and moisturized.

The diameter of each strand has not increased but each strand is very strong. And the volume of my hair has thickened up considerably.

I do not use Aphogee or any protein conditioners. I just add the SAA, hydrolyzed wheat or oat protein to my regular conditioners when I feel I need a shot of protein.

But to answer your question about how to tell if your hair is fine, compare it to someone else's hair like Jetblackhair did. It will be obvious. I laid my hair next to a white woman's hair and her hair looked like a rope compared to my hair. DH's hair looks like a rope laying next to mine, too.

It takes some pull to break my hair.
