How can I stop this insane shedding??

here.... but i'm not here
For the past few months now, my hair has been shedding non-stop and it's driving me crazy. I can't comb my hair without seeing hairs snap off. I was supposed to get a touch-up today, but I woke up too late, and now I just want to go ahead and wash it.

This is my washing routine

Wash about 3 times with Pantene Pro-V color radience shampo ( for relaxed and naturals) (I tried to color my hair once, and the color has pretty much faded out by now.)

Then I condition with Pantene Prov-V for relaxed and naturals.

After I blow dry with a cool setting with Beyond the Zone straightning balm. or with a John Frieda product.

Then I flat iron at the highest on a number 5 setting with my new Revlon ceramic flat iron.

I normally don't moisturize it everyday just because I don't like grease, but when I wear i in a donut, I normally use a pink Oil product.

Is there anything I need to add or take away from my regimin?

I was always very leary of baggying but to tell you the truth thats what worked for me. I moisturize my hair every night with a leave-in conditioner and I seal with jojoba oil (I will be trying castor oil next) put my hair in a ponytail, I braid the ponytail and put a baggy on the ends (secured with an ouchless rubber band). When I wash my hair and detangle my hair, I notice minimal shedding.

BAGGYING REALLY WORKS!!!!

I think it's breakage not shedding. Hairs snapping off is definitely breakage.

I agree you should cut down on the heat.

Try drying your hair in a bun or rollerset, or banding to get your hair straight enough you should only need to flat iron to get it straight.

But it sounds like you could do with avoiding heat altogether for the moment.
Try doing a protein treatment, moisturising your hair daily, maybe CO washes and always airdrying! Maybe you could do braidouts or something...?

Also, pink oil products dry your hair out, apparently. (Never used them myself).

I like to wash my hair three times ( like in a row, wash, rinse repeat lol) just to make sure it's clean, because I've had dry scalp, reallly bad.

i've always been weary of air ddrying because my hair gets kind of wavy after I wash it.

This may be the problem as grease does not equate moisture...To truly moisturize you try something water based and then seal with a lite oil such as jojoba/sweet almond/olive/even a little castor oil..also have you tried to deep condition with a protein for strength (followed by a moisturizing conditioner). Maybe give up blowdrying & flatironing for awhile & give up the pink oil forever & try protective styles..I believe the baggie method was mentioned by a previous poster..this method has done wonders for my hair...HTH

I would add a daily moisturizer to your regimen. Pink oil may not be your best bet :(

*eta* I use lady velvet silky touch hair moisturizer and my hair loves it!

Sounds like you may be doing some damaging things to your hair. Washing 3 times is very drying and may be causing your dry scalp as well. I think you should cut down to 1 unless your hair is loaded product and needs a repeat. Also, the other ladies advice about moisture should definitely be taken into consideration. Less heat and more moisture should stop your breakage. It doesn't sound like shedding. Hope that helps.

You may need do a heavy duty protein treatment like Dudley DRC 28 this works great on my hair.
Pick up a bottle of Nutrine Garlic poo it helps with shedding I alway keep this on my shelf.

Since your hair is snapping off, it's probably breakage and not shedding. Have you tried a protein treatment to help strengthen your hair?

You should be deep conditioning your hair every week. You should do a search, but some popular deep conditioners on this board are ORS Replenishing Packs and Motions CPR.
