How can I get my rollersets to look crisp?

When my friend that is a pro. hair stylist did a rollerset on my hair. My hair came out really shiny and the curls were tight. The style lasted for a week.

Whenever I do a rollerset on myself the curls come out very fluffy and the curls are just pathetic waves.
How can I get my rollersets to look decent?

You're so cute!

What type of products are you using? Do you know what your friend used on your head and are you using the same type of rollers?

I don't really rollerset for a curly look so I just use a leave in and some serum.

I think you would need setting lotion for the curls to last longer.

Beautiful eyes :) For my rollerset, I mix some Lacio Lacio, Chi Silk and a bit Keracare setting lotion in a cup of water and put it in a spray bottle. HTH :)

Thank you so much =]

I don't really have any good products at the moment.
So I just mixed water, oil, and some random braid spray into a spray bottle; to remoisten the hair when it was too dry to roll.

I tried using setting lottion but, it made the curls come out very frizzy.
It could be that the setting lotion brand itself wasn't the best? It was Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Wrap Set Mousse

When I was relaxed, I used to use Lottabody setting lotion. You have to dilute it with water use more for a stiffer set, less for a softer set. HTH

I think your hair looks fine... I really don't see a problem with the second set of pics.

Using oil for rollersetting always weighs my hair down and makes the curls look bleh :ohwell:

maybe save the oil for sealing after your hair is dry?

Ohh, that is probably why.
Ever since I made that mix the rollersets have seemed to come out nastier.

I'll just use water, and when I can buy some.. setting lotion.

Thanks guys

Setting lotion and no oil. My choice is Lottabody. Also be sure to make sure the hair is taut on the rollers. Then hair must be completely dry before removing the rollers. Good luck!
