i dont have actual pictures of my protective style (at least not from a good viewpoint) but i wear small twists. i like to wear the front "out" (since it's not long enough to snag on my clothing....and the back i wear pinned up in some way.

here's a length update (pulldown)

Closer Than I Thought? (picture from march 15, 2008)

HAPPY APLengthing to you all!!

I love my bun:

Also, I really like this bun:

But sometimes I like twists:

And on occasion I enjoy these, too:

 But I have to say, I'm not a full believer in protective styles for the sake of keeping the hair off the shoulders. My hair in the back just barely touches the shoulders (not fully stretched, I mean) in a braidout or twistout. But my hair is layered. Seems to me that if touching the shoulders made prevented your hair from retaining length or made your ends jacked up, the hair in the back would be the shortest and most jacked up while the hair at the top, which doesn't touch the shoulders, would continue growing well. I just don't see that on my head. But what protective styles do help in is the prevention of too many knots, which I'd have to rip out, which would be the breakage I'm looking to avoid.

Hey guys

I just wanted to point something out really quick.

When I sent out the last IM's out I used the wrong icon ()

Another challenger brought it to my attention. I should have used something different, I was in a hurry when I sent them out.

Sorry

Yourhair is beautiful

I posted this earlier in another thread (I think I got confused) but I'm out of the challenge due to a big trim :ohwell:. I'm looking at May/June now, but I wanted to wish all you ladies luck...and congratulations to those who've already made it :yep:.

Sorry

haha I saw that and was like "sarcastic eye roll--cute.." I thought it was quite funny!!

Any-who .....Here are a few pics of my fave protective styles -- though I am quite sick of them by now :

Low bun with some height at the top -- don't have a pic of the front tho...

Better view different day

My attempt at bantu knots -- I liked that I could wear my hair down and not have it brushing against my clothes or getting snagged on purses or whatever....

I love to wear braidouts too but have not worn them a lot lately.

I don't even use protective styles. If I try to put my hair in a bun, I get a headache later in the day. Mostly I wash and go and throw a scarf over it. I may wear a braidout but not often. Here's how my hair looks now after I went to the dominican salon last week:

I will try to keep it straight for at least another week. Here's an old braidout from my fotki:

Same here. Getting to APL is very hard :ohwell:

Im still very much here, alive and kicking still wondering why my name is not on the list of remaining ones who is trying my hardest to make my APL mark. I was really disappointed o not see name cuz i was working very hard at this. Anyway there was a misunderstanding on my part where i create a thread(which i had to edit totally) about our protective styes checkin as thought the link Nicky1976 sent in my PM was to start the thread.
Anyway i haven't fallen off so here are the pics of my protective styles using my own hair.
