Yes indeed!!
I dont know why I didnt just stick to what I knew was good. My hair hates heat....I know that! So why DH did I go buy a flat iron? My hair started breaking almost immediately. I probably tripled the amount of hair that comes out from combing after using it. (It did get my hair nice and straight though and this was after a braidout) I guess a good conditioning will help....*sigh*
I am considering returning it......but maybe I'll keep for a few more weeks...ya know...to test it on my new growth.... :look:

I hear ya girl! I went over 6 months without heat because my hair was a mess from it. Then, I got back to school and all my friends were doing their hair all cute for the weekends so I brought out the old flat iron and my hair was messed up within 2 weeks...

One thing I don't understand: why the braid out if you wanted to wear your hair straight? or did you change your mind later? Braid outs add so much texture to the hair it takes a lot of heat to straighten it. (1) Try doing a roller set if you want to wair your hair in straight styles. The indirect heat from a hooded dryer is safer than the flat iron. (2) When you do flat iron, try to do it only when your hair is freshly washed. I've used one three or four days after a wash and it really damaged my hair. All the dirt my hair had picked up over those days fried right along with my hair in the iron.(3) Also, I wouldn't flat iron more than once per week. I have known people who could flat iron/curl their hair daily with no apparent damage, but I don't think most people's hair can take that much heat.

Good Advice!

KiSseS03: Peer pressure is a mutha!!

yokourt: I haven't completely given up on it yet. I'll drop it down a few degrees so hopefully my hair will go from Bake to straighten...

LovelyZ: The braid-out was an experiment I guess. I washed then braided my hair and let it airdry instead of half airdrying and then blow drying like I usually do. I dont think I braided the front far down enough because it was straight while the rest was nice n wavy. Just didnt look kosher IMO... :Clown:
I decided to get the flat iron to straighten it out. I think if I do decide to return it...the hooded dryer will be my next purchase. :)

Next time maybe you should try rollersetting your hair in order to wear it straight and then flat iron your roots only...Your ends are the most fragile and oldest part of your hair and heat added to it can cause breakage...I learned this the hard way...just rollerset for the straight look and flat iron the roots only...Did you use some kind of heat protectant?
