Hicks Total Transformation Smooth Edges....

I have been using Hicks off and on for several months and I really like it. My hair is 4a natural and when I use it my edges look like I am relaxed, smooth but not hard shiny"plastic" looking. It does build up and if I do not excercise it lasts more than one day for me , but then again my hair is fine. If I DO exercise, I tie my edges down with a scarf for about 20 minutes and that helps to get the hold back. When I purchased it I just ordered it from their site.

Agreed. I am not looking for GLUE... :look: But this stuff held better than any other product I have used - and I don't use that awful brown gel....

My hair was not fuzzy. But in blown dried hair - I had no curly burlies.... I would used significantly less with flat ironed hair.....:yep:

I was just reading some of the comments below the video and it looks like one of the ingredients is a big no no... Here is what the comment said:

I'm glade u like the product but FYI: DMDM ingredient u mention Causes dermatitis (Which is inflammation of the skin). Acts as a preservative and may release formaldehyde(the chemical they use on dead bodies) and is a suspected carcinogen (cancer). Rats develop cancer when injected with this chemical. Just in case u didn't know

I would look into that before purchasing this product. I've never heard of this before but it's worth researching before putting this in your hair. Her results are nice but not worth it if that comment is true.

I saw that. I'm doing research now. I wonder if the amount in the product is large enough to cause any harmful effects.

/\ Awe shucks:ohwell:....well okay I'll take your word for it then....hope
i can find this at my local bss!:yep: please let me know what its staying power was.

I purchased 3 jars of this at the Bronner Brother's hair show.... and It's the BOMB dot com. Lol! As far as reports that it doesn't last long.... For a typical work day or school day it works fine. It works best on clean hair and once you brush it down you are good to go. I had it applied at around 11am and at 8pm it was still nice and slicked. I wet a brush and slicked it down and it was brand new again. I think it's worth every penney! HTH!

No one else has some pics or Youtube vids to post?

I need make sure this will work on my Type 4 hair!

Show evidence!!

My hair type is 4a/b:yep:
This is my twa slicked with this product and pulled up into a phony pony.
I wore this hair style last night,so there was definitely more of a wet look before i tied it up to sleep last night/this morning:look:

I tried to upload bigger pics ladies, but it wouldn't let me:perplexed
If you guys can't make them bigger then i'll try to do the photobucket thing.
That should work right? I have no idea:ohwell::lachen: so let me know what to do it they're not big enough.lol.

Edit:You can see how my edges have that gray ashy look now that i've slept on it,but the look was totally a "wet" look all of last night:yep:
I have not been able to get this look with just gel,and gel doesn't last as long for me.
Also, the Hicks elongated my curls a bit and made it easier for me to pull my hair up.

I don't know how to feel about the chemical in it,but my edges are thin, and I welcome anything with castor oil to help make them thicker.I need thicker edges!!!!!

thanks so much again lady beersch for the pics. It looks really good. Is that the same hold since last night? If so it did a good job

Yup! I just tied it down with my silk scarf:yep:
You can see the back lifting up in one of the pics though, because of the way i tie my scarf in the back, but the front was completely smoothed down.

The product is great and I believe it will work just as good when my new growth gets out of control. Pics say more than words so let’s move on.....

Freshly washed hair with no products:

The day after (slept with a scarf on):

Hair stayed straight the whole day and if I would've wet it before putting the scarf at night, the next day results would’ve been better, but I guess it's not bad, still pretty decent.

HTH, let me know if you have any questios.......;)

I'm still torn about this product. It doesn't hold for me (I have relaxed hair but I apply it to the new growth which is a soft 4a).

My hair just ends up frizzing... The only thing I haven't done is applied it and then use tie it down with my hair scarf, I guess I'll try that.

DMDM hydantoin is an antimicrobial formaldehyde releaser preservative with the trade name Glydant. DMDM hydantoin is an organic compound belonging a class of compounds known as hydantoins. It is used in the cosmetics industry and found in products like shampoos, hair conditioners, hair gels and skin care products DMDM hydantoin works as a preservative because the released formaldehyde makes the environment less favorable to the microorganisms.

Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) Expert Panel has evaluated DMDM hydantoin and concluded "that it was safe to a great majority of consumers but has limited the concentration to 0.2% free formaldehyde due to the skin sensitivity of some individuals to this agent."[3] A study found "An increase in the use of DMDM hydantoin in cosmetic products will also inevitable increase the risk of cosmetic dermatitis in consumers allergic to formaldehyde."[

Im really impressed with the product--Im transitioning and my edges are at this point natural---it holds really well for me. I purchased a jar from Jehan in MD after she did my install.

your welcome  That sounds good or even see if an actual stylist or salon carries it. I honestly didnt know anything about the proudct until she used it on me today and immediately I was sold. I was concerned about maintaining my edges and not stressing them w/heat....this does the trick :yep:

I recall seeing it at a hairshow but dismissed it:nono: Ill know next time because Im sure its really cheap...so its on my list for the Aug ATL show.

That is what I love about it... I must say though that this product is VERY drying - over time for my "virgin, nothing but aloe vera Juiced" hair. I cannot use this as a Pony "SLICKER" but - I can use it on my edges.
