For those who talked me into waiting an extra week before my relaxer, thanks, I guess. It's so thick at this point. I wanted to scream last night in the detangle. It took me dag on near 30 minutes to totally detangle my hair. My arms got so tired! I lost way too many hairs, it's shedding like crazy

Anyway, I am going to relax this weekend, that makes 6 weeks. And I supposed I'll get a trim too, that way I'll be ready to show pictures sometime later on this month, I can't wait to show off my new growth

I'm sorry you lost so much hair, Caramela.

Lisa Akbari, from The Black Woman's Guide to Beautiful Hair, recommends people wait until they have at least an inch of new growth, ideally one and a half to two inches.

She also recommends re-touches should be given on an as-needed basis ... but never sooner eight to ten weeks.

Oh Caramela!!

Maybe in these times you have to act like you're transitioning! One major turning point for me in my transition was learning how to detangle my hair. And that's my detangle method (sorry if you've heard this before)

First put your hair in two sections! (I do down the middle).

Then
1. Detangle after you have in a moisturizing "slip" conditioner
2. Detangle again as you rinse out the conditioner
3. Saturate with leave-in once out of the shower to complete detangling!

This has saved me major agony and stress! But good luck with your decision!
