I just wanted to show my love for this site. I joined today thanks to the post by SR. Out of negativity there's positivity. I'm really excited to meet people and learn about hair techniques and products. I still have to learn what kind of hair I have ie: hair code-lol:look:

But *Madea voice* Heyller

Thank you :bighug:
Maybe you can let me know where the hair type info is at? I have what people consider cotton hair. It's really soft and fine but all natural no perm. I'm searchin the threads right now to get info on an organic perm or curl releasing products.

Welcome to our board!

PLEASE don't let the negativity give you a bad opinion about us. There are so many great, educated women of different nationalities on this board. All that drama is such a small part of what this board really is.

As for hair typing, we could try to guess your type if you show us pictures. From what you're describing, you sound like you may be a 4a, 4b or CNapp. But hair texture has a tendency to change (become "more manageable") once you condition and take care of it better. So that is something you might notice too.

Also, besides the actual curl pattern of the hair, the thickness of the individual strand and density of hair on your actual head (or numbers of hair you have) can also play a factor in figuring out your specific hair type so you can try to better figure out what your hair needs.

Thank you Joy,

I knew that if Sandra felt is was bad it had to be good-lol I used to go to her site all the time but I noticed she had more bad things to say about people than good. I used to belong to another site that shut down and was thrilled to find this one.

I just found out my hair type is 3b. I have it straight in my pics but I would like to find some products that allow me to wear it au natural. I'm still on the fence about a perm. I like my hair and don't want to shock it with chemicals. I'm very excited about meeting other people with ideas about products. By time we get products (the black products) to Cali they're outdated. So it's good to meet people outside the state to learn what else is being used.

Hey...

I found the board the same way... you are correct something positive will always come out of negativity!!

I cut my hair to 1/4 inch in February 2007 out of frustration with breakage and my inability to maintain my preferred relaxed style. I joined the board in June 2007 after lurking for two months. My hair is now an inch from shoulder length, relaxed, and healthy! These ladies know what they're talking about!

:hiya: :welcome: :bighug:
