Hey I'm a new member here and i'm soo exited, I've been a lurker her for over two years now, so can remember when macherie amour was a regular poster. I started out at growafrohairlong.com, and finally made it to this haven. I feel like I already know so many people, like glamazon386 and dslewis but none of you know me - which is weird, but that will soon change... I can't wait to start contributing to the forum - can't believe it took me so long to sign up!
Mwah@ all the ladies who make up LHCF!
Pics coming soon, when I have time to figure out the added stuff I can access on this site - it's AMAZING! Bye-bye, degree!

DD, glad to have you finally aboard. Do you already have a regimen? What is your hair history? Sorry i'm so nosy, just really interested since you've been lurking for a while.

This may be long, so i'm gonna try to (kind of) sum it up...

My hair had it's history of bad hair practices; i.e hot-combing from the cooker once a week with blue magic, not washing it for about a month at a time, combing it with combs that all had little teeth... the list goes on. I got fed up with it, and relaxed it at the age of about 11/12 (after begging my mum) and then it broke off, and got chewed up - just because with it in an even more brittle state, i couldn't look after it anymore. With extensions, I grew the relaxer out and cut it off, and started again, but then i reached what APPEARED to be my terminal length of SL. (Even though apparently, judging from pictures, i was past SL as a kid)

The worst happened at my prom at 16. I had my hair pressed bone straight (with trauma from the scarring) but it looked good. And I wanted it to stay looking good. I didn't wash it, for fear it would revert (I'm an original 4b - but i think heat appliances are changing that), and I kept restraightening it, and ignoring the MASSIVE strands of hair that would gather up around my room, just throwing them away. My hair broke to uneven ear length. Cue GAHL.com, and the rest is history - I put my hair in extensions for 6 months, moisturising with PALTAS (sometime im gona talk about this prod) and washing more regularly than usual, only because I found that it neatened my hair as opposed to frizzing it up like i thought it would. My hair went from ear to past shoulder. I was sooo exited, and became adicted to improving my hair.

But I jumped from that to...

Frequent washing/co-washing
Little to no heat appliances
Holland and Barretts hair skin and nails vitmins (mostly because they keep my skin glowing)
about 2L of water every day
and a few other things that I do that i'll cover later.

However, i do still screw it up from time to time - i'm a sucker for straight hair STILL it gives thefull effect of my length, which is about APL (sometimes it looks more, sometimes less, I can't fully gauge it.) It's fully natural, but it has straight strands when wet :ohwell: becuse of the straightening iron thing - i have not mastered that. I feel like, when my hair is mesy, but natural, i'm the don of hair care, I do have a few styling tricks up my sleeve, but maintenance for me, is reeally poor.
whew...
