Iam ecstatic, I had a moment, yesterday, I did a co wash and did a wet strand test on my hair and it was so springy and strong. It stretched but went back, I was so happy. The breakage is down so much and all it took was just about a week. I knew my hair could be strong but I never knew how. Those products sitting in my closet where all I needed I just needed to know the right way to use them.

So new folks, have you had that moment yet? What was it and how happy are you?

Thank you ladies, you all are awesome I never knew any of this stuff I am so happy and sunsilk is amazing!!!:yay::yay::yay::notworthy:notworthy:

:lachen:I feel you on those moments. I am not a newbie per say (I do see you and I joined around the same time). However, I have just started to get seriously into this hair thing and I have had a few of those moments lately. First was the first time I prepooed and realized my hair could shine a lil bit. I was so proud. Second prepoo was even better because I did it with the ORS Replenish paks and my hair felt so much stronger the next day. Lastly I am most proud that I finally figured out how to stretch without my NG being so out of control (i.e looking like :freakout:Thanx Sunsilk Hydra cream) and how to moisturize my hair (NTM silk touch/AB Herbal Oil w/Castor Oil seal)

The more moments I have the more I get into what I am doing. I can't wait for the ultimate moment though when I finally see some growth. Glad to see I'm not the only one gushing over every little moment:yep:

I had a "wow" moment this morning. I'm about 9 weeks post with chronically dry hair. Yesterday I prepooed with a cheapie conditioner mixed with olive oil. I covered with a hot towel and sat under my soft bonnet dryer for 30 minutes. Then I jumped in the shower (normally I wash bent over the bathroom sink) and washed with CON green label. The difference was immediate. I could feel how soft my hair was and it detangled like nobody's business. After I deep conditioned I added my leave in and S-Curl, sealed and wrapped my hair. Using this method my hair is always at its most moist.

I still haven't found a good way to combat the itchies. I ordered Keracare's Dry and Itchy scalp line yesterday. I'll let you know how that one works.:spinning:

that is so awesome, I want to try a pre-poo really bad. I am just mad that I don't have access to all the supplies you ladies have. I have to order everything and wait impatiently for it's arrival. I want to try the castor oil thing so bad but nope, no castor oil around the place. Tried to order it but nope can't get it.

My hair does seem so much more moisturized since I started sealing it. Found some oil with castor oil in it and Iam giving that a try. Glad to see some new people benefitting from the hair tips.

MzSouthVA~ So what were you doing in your stretch? I am starting one and I am really paranoid about messing it up and having a lot of breakage. I do use sunsilk but I am almost out and have to wait awhile to get more. What did you do?

Prepooing with ORS hair mayonnaise really gave me an Ah Ha moment. My hair was SO soft and silky and shiny! I never thought I could get my hair to look like that without going to a salon. Also, looking through my fotki at my progress from May to September has given me an Ah Ha moment and has basically encouraged me to keep up what I've been doing and to not slack off. I'm about to actually up my game and start baggying every night for at least 2 hours. I don't think it would be a good idea for me to sleep in one since my hair is still kind of thin for my taste. I'm still working on thickening my hair back up. I also would like to work on incorporating more protective styles into my regimen. I'm starting to really get sick of the sock bun, the tucked under ponytail, and braid-outs/bantu knot-outs...

used keracare dry and itchy scalp conditioner last night, man! That stuff is great. I am doing a stretch and my hair is super smooth. Ofcourse it could have been the ors olive oil, either way I loved it. My hair is doing so much better.

Bought some ORS hair mayo too. I hope it works for me as much as it has worked for you. This is great, I love all this hair care, it gives me hope for thick beautiful hair:grin:

Kawaii1,

I just realized that I had to pay attention to my roots. Have you now I have very short hair so my stretch is not one of those massive stretches the other ladies have. I just relaxed two days ago after 10-11 weeks.

I just made sure to go through my hair and actually moisturize the new growth itself. This is probably something you already do. However, I would always just rub my product throughout all my hair and it would never lay down. So I just sectioned my hair little by little and worked the Sunsilk through the new growth. Again common sense for most but me and hair have never been that close :ohwell:. I am used to being the weave master and that is about it. I did it on dry hair and also once after my weekly wash worked fine both times. It actually helped curve my shedding. But that is just how it worked for me it may be totally different for you.

I am, however, paranoid about using the Sunsilk too much because of the keratin. So now unless I am deep into a stretch I only plan to use it when drying my hair. I don't like to use it daily but we will see if that changes.

I'm sure you will figure it out and I'll be back here seeking your advice :yep:

Just noticed the last post see you already figured it out. You grow girl

MZSouthVa~ Actually I can get a little lazy with going through and oiling my hair. I don't want to cause breakage and sometimes I am lazy. That is great that you did a stretch that long. I am still trying to get to that point and keep the hair on my head.

Used to oil religously when I was natural.

I haven't had an issue wih the sunsilk but I guess I will see how the other creme works now that I am out of sunsilk and have to get more. It has no protein but a lot of oils it seems nice and smells pretty good too.

I'm natural 4e or f or something like that.
I have coils, curls at nape, kinks in crown and on the left front... etc..

1. My hair was always difficult to detangle... until I found a thread under relaxer stretching. It recommended using lime/coconut milk/ honey/ and a conditioner.

So I tried it... and was like WHOA!!! I was able to detangle my hair with my fingers.. I only had to use a comb on one of my coily patches that was being resistent.. but other than that... I havent had to use a comb or a brush ... Its been great.. It has also lowered the amount of time it takes to twist my hair...

2. My hair has always had a problem with dryness. I started using aloe vera gel/shea butter/curl activator gel mix to do my twists.( found the recommendation on a thread.. can't remember who posted it) and my hair has not had that "crunchy sensation" of dryness since.
and baggying my whole head and deep conditioning 2x's a week has made a big difference...
I can go on and on...
I can't wait to post pics!!!

My AHA moment came when I did my first week of co-washing. I did it daily for 5 days and my hair was ultra moisturized, almost too moisturized, I couldn't keep my hands out of my hair. Hardly any shedding/breaking.

After each co-wash I moisturized and sealed. My hair was wavy and silky.

Ahhhhhhhhhh, co-washing and sealing I could speak on forever and I just started. I thought I used to much hair creme last night but nope my hair is super soft, it feels so good. Co-washing tonight, man I am gonna need more conditioner.

Doesn't it feel good to see the benefits almost immediatly? I feel like I am finally doing something right for my hair.
