Hi ladies! I am new to this forum and can't wait to take this break to get LOTS OF INFO!!! I am a 24 year old female who is 4a/4b hair(and some 3!) that is generally very kinky and very fine. I've never known what to do with my hair, and my hair has always been an issue with me. Two years ago, I lost ALOT of hair due to overrelaxing, stress, not eating right, etc. It was extremely traumatizing. Well, I switched my regimen and wore wigs last year, and since last April, I've been growing my natural hair back in micros, which I love. I now take LOTS of vitamins, only use natural products, and eat really well. My hair has been growing, but tommorrow, I am taking my braids out, and am going to give it a month of rest(since april, I've usually only been able to give my hair a week of rest in between braids, but my hairdresser is very gentle and doesn't knot my hair so that it will grow) Ok, so my question is, I need HELP to figure out a regimen for my hair for the next month, because I want my hair to grow so bad. I have Aveda Curressence shampoo and conditioners, Jason Tea tree clarifying shampoo and conditioner, ORS olive oil replenishing conditioner and neutrogena deep recovery hair mask for mosture, and Fructis strengthing hair mask for a strengthing treatement. I also ordered Audrey Organic GDP for a good protein treatement. I also have surge, jojoba and almond oil, shea butter, ORS fertilizing serum for my ends, and tommorrow, I was also going to pick up wild growth hair oil, because the reviews here have been awesome. So my question is, which of these products, (and are there others), are best for really fine hair? How often do I use a deep conditioning mask and a protein mask. If I am correct, you use a clarifying shampoo and conditioner twice a month, protein treatement two-3 times a month, and a deep conditioning mask once a week. Do you ladies know of any detanglers for fine hair? On growafrohairlong.com, she sells a AFRO DETANGLER...here are the ingredients...

avocado/mango/shea butter, vitamin E, avocado oil, almond oil, wheat germ oil, lecithin, green tea, germaben II, mild fragrance.

Are these products too heavy for my hair? And finally, she suggests washing your hair by putting it in sections, but my hair is boy-short, should I still section it?

Thank you soooo much!! Please please please help! I really need all the info I could get! I've always struggled with my hair because it is so fine and curly at the same time. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!

Hello and WELCOME! glad to have you join us :)

You should do trial-and-error and see how these products work for you. I think you have good products so far. You just need to decide when and how you're going to use them. Maybe you should visit other 4a/b natural ladies' albums and see their regimen or whatever and see what works for them.

Protein treatments, IF they're mild, can be done every two weeks, it's up to you... if you feel like your hair is TOO moisturized and is breaking, or that it doesn't have enough moisture, u need to do more conditioning treatments and do protein treatments every two to three weeks.

You can clarify once a month and then follow with a conditioning treatment.

You can decide if the products are good for fine hair if they leave your hair limp and greasy. What I think you should do, is do a good number of conditioning treatments, since 4a/b hair tends to be the dryest, supposedly, so that your hair will have enough moisture in it already, and then use your styling products as a moisture supplement. What I mean by that, is that you shouldnt RELY on your styling products to keep your hair moisturized, but your shampoo and conditioner should take a part in keeping moisture in your hair as well.

I think the Afro Detangler sounds great, BTW

Maybe you can do a search for natural ladies' regimens. I'm sure you'll find more help there. Good luck! :)

CarLiTa,

Your hair is DROP-DEAD GORGEOUS! I think it is wonderful that you are young and have such great control over your hair, how did you learn so much? How often do you shampoo and condition your hair? Your hair seems a lot thicker than mine, but I still think it is inspiring to see such amazing length. Thanks so much for the help!

Anyone else have advice, especially with 4a/4b fine hair? I really would appreciate the advice, since I am getting my braids out tommorrow.:ohwell: Please let me know!
Thanks ladies!

Hi, Nadi! I dont have any advice to offer other than what has already been said, but I would like to wish you a happy journey to healthy hair! :)

Welcome to the board! I don't have fine hair so I don't know if I should give you product advice. Could the fine haired ladies chime in and tell her what techniques (not necessarily product) that she could do to maintain hair health? Happy hair growing, honey!

Hi,

Welcome. I have very fine hair. I had to try a lot of different products to find what works for me. However in my album are my products.

Additionally, several things have given me consistent growth in 2005

* stretching my relaxer at least 3 months apart
* condition washes when I have close to an inch of new growth or more--retains major moisture
* using gentle but effective products
* nourishing my ends frequently
* blowdrying (sounds weird but my hair is super fragile when wet, I could either do an airdried rollerset or blow dry. I have been blowdrying for 1 year, no ill effects).

I can't wait to hear about your progress.
