I am a terrible terrible person to my poor hair..I know the proper way to handle my hair, but in the back I have been very rough with it and as a result the back of my hair area is seriously broken off and the ends are badly split and stuff...if I go to the sylist at home i used to go to, or anyone else and try to get a trim, they wont give me one just back there, they'll try to "even it up"...everywhere. So...should I just leave it alone and baby it until its time for me to retouch in may, and hope its grown out enough by then to not have to cut all the hair off in the back?!?!?! what should I do!!!

Well first - take better care of your hair.

Then seriously look for a better stylist who will do what you want. It's the only way.

I think you can wait, but I think taking care of your hair like you know you should, and making it your business to find a new stylist (painful I know - but necessary if you don't want to do your hair yourself all the time) will be the keys to making sure this isn't a recurring problem.

Could you find someone you trust to trim it for you (a friend or family member)? Just make sure you stop doing whatever it is that's causing the problem, whatever you decide...

You are not alone! My back area has splits too. I play in my hair...so I have a good amount of shedding. What I decided to do was pay close attention to that area. Ex using distilled water...making sure that it is well moisturized...and doing scalp massages. I will be going for a trim on the 17th of March, and I'll be taming my hair until then. I would wait until you get more growth, unless your hair is badly damaged. If you trust your stylist...just ask her to dust your ends for you. Make sure she knows that you are trying to grow your hair out. Ask her to do it in layers so that you get the majority of the splits.

If you want to hold off from the stylist...sweetpea's idea sounds like a good one.
