Has anyone ever used THIS? I notice it has no developer in it and is not supposed to be as harsh as other tints. I want to use it but I am afraid it will dry my hair out or break it off since. I have only used rinses or Bigen. My hairdresser told me Bigen was very damaging to the hair. Any suggestions?

I've learned from this board and elsewhere that Bigen is supposed to be very safe on relaxed hair, natural and all hair types. Do you know why your hairdresser said it's damaging? Did you notice any damage on your hair while using Bigen? (inquiring minds want to know! )

I would like to know also.... I have been using Bigen also and have had no real issues with it... My hair is always on the dry side anyway... But Bigen never damaged my hair...

Any other ladies with Bigen reports... Inquiring minds want to know :scratchch

I always follow the directions... I have not had any trouble yet with the Bigen... I use the Bigen Expressive line every six months which does lighten my hair some... Then I use a light color rinse in between to get a lighter color on my hair... So far this works and does not damage my hair...

You're welcome LadyZ. I was pleasantly surprised C.H. had this info and that it can be safely used right after a relaxer, when retouching.


Bees - I haven't used Herbatint or any hair color yet. I'm still learning what products are safe to use and Bigen is looking pretty good.

That does look good. I like how it has soy and coconut and essential oils. Isn't the hydrogen peroxide damaging for relaxed hair?

Thanx everyone! I had never really had a problem using Bigen but after my hairdresser told me to quit using it because it was damaging to the hair...she said it dries it out and breaks it. After using Bigen I noticed my hair was extremely dry but after coming to the forum I learned how to really condition my hair to prevent the dryness. I really want to put color in my hair but I am afraid. The last time I had color put in my hair the stylist supposedly used something that was mild but whatever it was broke my hair wherever it was colored. I was laying in the bed one night with my head resting on my hands...my hair was tangled between my hands and when I turned my head...the hair broke off in my hand! I was horrified...within 2 weeks I had nothing but strings left...the hair that wasn't colored. I had to get all my hair cut off to keep from looking like a scraggly headed *****! I am not tryna do a big chop right about now but I hate black hair and just wanna liven up my hair a bit.

I've never heard of this and I've visited all 8 BSS in a 4 mi radius of my house . Bigen I've used for 9 months and it's the gentlest of all the color I've ever had. I follow it with ORS Replenishing Pak and I'm good to go.
All hair color has the potential to be damaging if not handled properly.

So where does everyone get their Bigen haircolor, Sally's? Sally's only has a limited number of colors but Bigen comes in a wide range of colors.

I have been using Bigen for almost 2 years now. I absolutely love this stuff. It covers my grey very nicely. Because of all the new growth I am getting, I find that I need to apply Bigen once a month to keep the grey away. I was a little nervous at first but it seems to be working for me even with such frequent usage. I went to the Domican Salon and ask them to apply it for me the last time and the stylist ask if I knew it was permanent and I said yes but it doesn't have peroxide or amonia. She read the ingredients and said that it sounded like a good product and after she finished with my hair she really liked the result
