It's my first time buying henna and I was wondering if anyone had any websites/brands that I can go to and use?

Someone here on this forum suggested going to you indian grocer and buying a brand called Reshma Henna. I too use to order online from hennaforhair.com and mehandi.com. I had stopped hennaing my hair for some reason, but decided to start up again. I went to a indian grocer that just opened and I purchased the Reshma henna. I applied to my hair and my intention was to leave it in overnight, well i wasn't feeling that good and i was tossing and turning and the henna in my hair was bothering me, so I decided to rinse it out. I put it in at 7:30PM and I rinsed out at 10:30PM and i rinsed and rinsed and rinsed. Afterwards, I deep conditioned for 30 minutes with heatcap and then I put on plastic cap and left the conditioner in my hair all night. Well let me tell you, this Reshma Henna was the best i have ever used. I could see the color in my hair subtly because my hair color is black. I was soooo impressed. I use to purchase the jamila brand henna and this did nothing like the Reshma Henna. I will be making a henna gloss and i will be doing this every two weeks. My hair was strong, and I could see a slight color. They say in the sun you will really see highlights. I notice people looking at my hair. I know it has to be because of the henna. I love the Reshma Brand.

I usually purchase locally from indian/pakistani grocers. But, if you are really into purchasing online, I'd buy from ayurnaturalbeauty.com.

I purchased my BELOVED Karishma henna and I love it to pieces!! It's the only henna I use, and she sells it at a decent price. Fast shipping, and good customer service.

To make the gloss, what's the henna to conditoner ratio and what else do you add to the mix (if any).

OP, sorry for thread jacking.

There are several people on this forum that have listed their mixes, i only remember Lavendar. But I want to use my henna gloss only on one particular day as a deep conditioner that I will leave on my hair overnight. I got this from the hennaforhair.com website and I will be using these proportions:

Fia's Henna gloss - for minimal color change and deep conditioning
- 2-3 tablespoons henna powder
- Enough lemon/lime juice to mix a smooth paste
- Your favorite conditioner or plain, unsweetened yoghurt
Mix the henna powder with lemon/lime juice to a smooth paste and let this stand until you see dye release. Mix the henna paste with either your favorite conditioner or plain yoghurt. Apply to dry or damp hair and leave on for as long as you wish. Rinse as you'd rinse out a regular conditioner.
This one is easy to apply and rinse, as it's basically conditioner or yoghurt with just a hint of henna dye in it. It's good as either a color refresher in between regular henna applications or if you only wish to have a very subtle color change. It will give reddish hints on blonde and light brown hair. You may see some reddish highlights on medium brown, but probably not too much. On dark brown/black hair you'll only get the conditioning benefits from the conditioner/henna.

I used henna for the first time the other day and it was Reshma that I used. I am in LOVE. The color is beautiful and I don't think my hair has ever felt this wonderful. I loved it so much that I went online and bought a case of it today!

cosigning this whole post! Ekua has EXCELLENT custoomer service and Karishma henna is also wonderful. It's not gritty and easy to wash out with great color deposit. I also indigo my hair so color isn't a big deal to me
