Hemp Seed oil... Would you recommend it???

I have recently discovered ceramides/Hemp Seed oil and I want to know if any of you have had any marked success with it. I totally understand what Omega's/EFA's (essential fatty acids) can do for hair (and body), but before I give in to my PJ habits I would like to testimonies as to whether or not your hair really likes it.

Thanks!!

I have some and use it for prepoo treatments. It makes my hair soft and it doesn't get stripped when I shampoo it. I want to start adding it to my DCs as well. I don't use it to seal because I find it quite heavy / greasy. HTH

I've had success with ceramides here are my benefits:

  1. No need to oil my hair frequently to seal in water. My hair feels naturally oiled.
  2. No need to use conditioner to detangle. I barely get any knots.
  3. No need for outside influences when it comes to braiding my hair. My sister was able to braid my hair without oiling my hair. That was a first.
  4. Softer hair.
  5. VERY little breakage; for the most part, I only get shed hair.

I've been using it for about a month now and I really like it. I've been using other ceramide oils, but hemp seed is my favorite. I use it in everything now: pre-poo treatments, sealing and mixed in DC's.

Echoing Yoshi3329, here are the benefits I've found:

Hair holds moisture longer
Softer hair
Improved elasticity
Easier detangling
Increased natural sheen

I also think that its better protects my hair from the sun/heat. I live in a very hot place and I'm in the sun quite a bit, sometimes when I would go to wash my hair there was a hint of burnt hair smell. Like when using a pressing comb (this would have to be from the sun because I don't use heat at all now). Since incorpaorating ceramide oils, I no longer have that scent when I wet my hair.

I concur with these Ladies findings.:yep: Hempseed is my personal favorite Ceramides packed oi, Wheat Germ being 2nd.

Incredible shine. Moisture Retention. Plus other extra added benefits. I'm on my 2nd bottle, and I highly recommend this Purchase.

YES! YES! YES! :yep:

I personally have liked WGO better than hempseed, but my WGO has EVOO mixed in it. I need to start usig my hempseed again.

But I use hempseed butter and like that.

I just started using it for my hair (and drinking it) and so far I concur with what the rest have been saying about it! It leaves my hair really soft and tangle free. When I wash my hair, it actually has slip, which is new to me. It absorbs quicklyas well.

The only downside is that hemp seed oil can degrade fast so you need to refrigerate it to prolong it's usage. The other popular oils that many ladies use here don't need to be refrigerated. Other than that, I think it's a wonderful oil to use.

Wonderful! I will definitely be adding Hemp seed oil to my arsenal of oils that I already use! from that you ladies have told me.. adding the Hemp seed oil on before sitting under my steamer will have my hair on cloud 9! I can't wait.. I'm going to purchase it today!

I use it occassionally for my hair but mostly I mix it with shea butter for my good friend's daughter. She HAD really bad excezma(sp?) I am talking about to the point of lesions because she scratched so much (she is only 2). Every since no more lesions and she actually likes it:)

Shea Butter
Hemp Seed
Water (to make creamy)
Emusifying wax

I love helping out my friends and the babies:)

I thought my hair hates oils until the ceramide thread inspired me to try the hemp seed oil I already had. My hair eats it up and it works great under Sparkle Lites gel.

Thanks for the thread.. Off to buy some.. What are the benefits of drinking it???

Haven't "Ingested it":look: but will tell you....If gives Super Blinging Shine.

The Shine from it is Incredible.:lovedrool:

Which made it my go to. I just finished my 2nd bottle.

It's really good.

Since I've incorporated the hemp seed oil my hair looks darker to me! that's not a bad thing, I'm just used to people always asking me if I have a rinse or if I've dyed my hair black and I never know what they are talking about but now I really feel like my hair looks jet black. Could this be due to the hemp seed oil? or do you think it's just my imagination?

I noticed that too :yep: since using ceramide oils in general. I think its the hair holding more moisture, like when it looks darker when wet.

Wow I have to pay attention to that. I don't mind my hair being darker. I love my Hemp oil and my WGO for prepoos.

If this is indeed coming from the hemp oil, it didn't change my hair color.. it was already black. If just looks enhanced to me.

Well if it enhances color then I'm all for it! I'll give hemp seed oil a try because I have been looking for natural ways to get ceramides into my reggie.

Well it contains essential fatty acids with are good for your overall well being. I haven't taken it yet but I have ingested olive oil and I like the way it made my skin look.

Great thread!

I am thinking of making my own leave-in
and hemp was on my list of oils to add to it.

You ladies have confirmed this- thanx!

I think you should go for it!! I have made my own hair oil and not only is it good for my hair but i've discovered that it's also good for my skin.. I add a little bit of the oil to my facial cleasner and it leaves my skin looking nice without feeling stipped and dry. (just a side note)

Love, love hemp seed oil! Been using that and avocado oil in my conditioners for the past couple of years. They are both my favs. Just tried the WGO mixed with hemp seed oil a few weeks ago and it's an awesome combo as well. Definitely give it a try.

Just bought some yesterday and used it to seal this morning. I mixed it with some coconut oil. It's the best oil I have used so far. I thought my hair didn't really care for oils, obviously I've been using the wrong ones!
The texture of my natural hair is just so much nicer - hard to describe - bouncier? sleeker? moisturized. This will definitely become a staple from now on.

Just a thought ...I have 3b/3c/4a fine hair and I am noticing that alot of the ladies (not all) here that like it have the same type of hair. The 4a/4b thicker haired ladies tend to like wheat germ oil better as it is heavier (like castor oil) I won't try wheat germ oil as I have curbed my PJism and I'm quite happy with the Hempseed but MissJae I would say try the wheat germ oil too.
