I don't wanna use traditional setting lotion because it makes my hair hard. I thought about using styling mousse, and then sittng under a bonnet dryer to "set" the style. Will this work? Has anyone did this before?

I've never used mousse before I would suggest diluting your setting lotion with water or using a wrap setting lotion for a softer set.

I know that brown gel is frowned upon on here but I use that when doing my straw sets and that's it. Once dry, I separate the individual curls with hair grease. The results are a nice soft shiny curl set and sleeping on a satin pillowcase usually keeps the style in for a week or so. My hair is short. Ear length. Hope that helped.
