HELP!!!!

I did a really stupid thing this weekend. I have been using BT. Instead of washing my hair and waiting a week to relax, I went ahead and put a relaxer in! :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:

Yep! Have a scab about the size of a quarter in the back of my head. Thankfully, It does not appear that I am losing any hair... YET! But that thing hurts like hell. I spent two days putting vitamin E oil on it. I now have Queen Helene Cholesterol conditioner on my whole head and a plastic cap on. I am planning to leave this in until I wash my hair tommorrow (I have to go somewhere on Wednesday). I know I have to baby my scalp until the scab heals. I am, thankfully, working from home all summer.

Do ya'll think I can do this whole head baggie thing all summer--only washing and styling when I have to go somewhere (which would be at least once a week)--without damaging my hair?

It's all Boundless Tresses fault! I got an obvious growth spurt the last week I used it and couldn't wait to relax to see how much growth I got! What the hell was I thinking?! :wallbash:

:perplexed Ouch!

Try mixing some aloe gel, a natural carrier oil and some tea tree oil and applying it daily. A visit to the derm is a good idea!

I don't think your should keep it wet all the time. It needs to breathe and be exposed to air.

And you shouldn't pull your hair tightly or put any stress on the area of course.

its a sore even if its on your scalp its still a sore , so like if you had a big sore on your body would you be washing it with harsh soaps? No only using things that cleaned it/while keeping it from being infected such as peroxide and dressing it! I think till it heals dont use shampoo , the Cholesterol is fine but only rinse that out , as that will clean your hair/scalp by itself. I think you should rub in neosporin antibiotic ointment to keep it from getting infected while its fresh, then after some healing use the vitamin E. A quarter size is pretty big , take caution to avoid infection

I used to get sores , not that big though, no matter what I did. So stop beating your head against a wall

I agree on the not keeping it wet it need air or it will just stay oozy

ewww

I second the neosporin (didn't think of it)

I would be freaking out some, lol. Quarter sized seems big to me!

Actually, it's probably more like a nickel size, but it's still bigger than any scab I've ever had. And it is oozy. Very oozy. I put the cholesterol on because it dries up at night and my hair sticks to the ooze--that was bugging me!

Bless your heart! I co sign with Neith and Iris. I'd keep aloe vera on it and let it breath. Keeping it covered will make is ooze more...

I'm trying to think of what oil would stop that and not have a food grade to it , so that bugs could multiply off of it, tea tree oil would protect it but be painful in the early stages like this I think....coconut oil has anti viral properties but not antibiotic , so I'm thinking the neosporin is still best and if you really do good coverage you can stop the hair from sticking with the ointment! its the best I can think of mama! Especially with it oozing! I would rinse out that cholesterol and dont put anything in your hair as to not aggravate it and just put the ointment on for a couple days with no wetness and see if that heals it

The oozing part souds scary. I would definitely go to a dermatologist, just to make sure it doesn't get infected.

No health insurance. But my mom is a nurse and my cousin is a nurse practioner who's married to a phramacist (or I should say her ex is a pharmacist who's still in love with her). They'll take care of it.

Oh..ok. Sounds like you are in good hands.

Update: Thanks everyone. My mom took a look at the scab and said it wasn't infected. She told me to use the petroleum jelly I have instead of the neosporin. The petroleum jelly has aloe and vitamin e in it and my scalp is feeling much better. I rollerset my hair today after having the conditioner on all night. I didn't notice a whole lot more shedding so I think I dodged a bullet this time. But no more relaxing within a few days of using BT for me!

Actually, I think I am going to skip the BT and just concentrate on deep conditioning and taking my vitamins until after I relax again. I want to make sure my scalp is in better shape before I resume to growth aids. This will also give me a chance to see how much growth I can get without growtn aids because I was thinking about dropping the growth aids altogether after I finish this 32 oz. bottle of BT.
