I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem, but I haven't been able to figure out what to do to fix it short of shaving my head
. After a misguided decision to start regular protein treatments months ago, I ended up with protein overload (and I mean OVERLOAD!), resulting in tons of lost strands!
I know better about protein now. My hair DOES NOT like it! Now I DC once or twice a week and my hair is getting better, but the short hairs are driving me nuts! I'm wearing braid outs and roller sets to keep as much heat out of my hair as possible (if I use heat 2x a month, that's a lot). During the week, I either pin curl or dampen and rebraid at night depending on which style I'm wearing because if I don't, my hair will look a HAM. Or, I'll wear my relatively long, razor-thin ponytail but only when push comes to shove. To some people this sounds like too much manipulation, but I haven't found any style with any staying power so I can minimize manipulation.
For those of you who have had this problem or currently have this problem, what have you done or are doing to fix it? I read the thread where some of you ladies were experimenting with yogurt a while ago. Did it strengthen you hair at all?
My hair has come a long way, but it's far from being 'hair porn' worthy. Whatever thoughts, advice, suggestions you have are welcome!
