Hey Ladies!
Newbie here, coming out of lurkdom
. I'm a 4a natural and I was wondering what moisturizers you guys are using. I really wanted some suggestions before I buy anything else that doesn't work. I hate not having a regimen after being natural for a year
. i've tried water and glycerin, but I heard that its not good for the winter months. Right now I'm using KBB Hair milk. It makes my hair feel so soft as first, but later its really dry. I've tried coconut oil and shea butter (and I do love them
), but those are only good for sealing
. My hair just feel greasy. Other than water, do you ladies have any suggestions?
I don't want to be a product junkie, and I know what works for some may not work for others, but there are thousands of products out there and I don't even know where to start

Elasta QP Mango Butter. Giovanni Direct Leave In (not a really heavy moisturizer, but it is nice). There are tons more!! Right now I'm trying to rely more on my deep conditioning for moisture rather than leave-in products, but those are the ones I have used (and I have tried many) and I like them the most currently.

Qhemet Biologics’s Olive & Honey Hydrating Balm & Qhemet Biologics’s Burdock Root Butter Cream; The moisturising combination of the Qhemet Biologics product’s works wonderfully for my hair; it feel’s soo soft and hydrated all day. I seal with Black Jamaican castor thinned with a little avocado oil; this Seals in moisture and makes my hair feel so soft!
.
I don't have a deep conditioner(I know that's not good). BUT I have added olive oil to my VO5 Conditioner before, I guess it wasn't enough. I'm going to use my mother heating cap now that I am home for the winter break. If a DC won't work, I will definitely get a clarifying shampoo.
. When I first started my journey, I did a good clarifying treatment, and I now deep condition every week under a steamer. My hair craves protein, so I alternate a DC one week with a protein treatment and DC the next week. I finish with an acv rinse as well, then use KBB Hair Milk and follow with QB Amla and Olive Heavy Cream mixed with the Hydrating Balm, and seal with an Afroveda oil. That gives me sustained moisture, but I also spritz my hair lightly every morning and night and seal with oil, usually a mix I made myself. I keep my hair in twists and just spray the twists, and gently scrunch oil in the ends.
