help with bantue knots

i'm going out friday night to see india arie and i need a touch up badly!!! richmond has been unbelievably humid the past couple of days so i dont wanna take a chance wearing my hair out and winding up with an afro when i get to the concert(its an outside concert).
i wanna try bantue knots.
is this a good style to try with new growth?
ive never tried this style so i need some product suggestions to use.

do you guys use setting lotion? or anything other than leave in conditioner?

Nothing other than spritz (conditioner, rosemary hair oil, distilled water, glycerin) and shea butter added to each section before I twist for me.
