Because of the heat and humidty in North Carolina, I have decided to take out my weave around July 18th. My stylist and I are clueless. What can I do? Braids usually don't stay in my hair the hair slides out. My hair frizzes to much to wear a natural and If I press my hair it won't last more than 2 now. I have been relaxer free for 18 mos. I got a lot of growth fgorm my weave and I don't want to loose it.

I came out of relaxers because I take a lot of medication. My sister wants me to wear a TWA.....I don't want to cut all this hair off either.

Please help me! (on knees..crying)

Would you feel comfortable and confident in a twa, cause you know ya gotta have a certain type of head to pull that off, everybody can't do it. How long have you worn your weave? Is a relaxer totally out of the question because of the meds?

Hi Auntybe, can you wear a french braided style that is in an updo - such as a french roll or bun? This way it won't be hot & the braids won't slip.

I have extremely frizzy natural hair and I have never had a problem with my hair "sliding" out of braids.
This sounds as if they weren't done properly or securely. Natural "frizzy" hair should have no problem holding a braid.
Go to a reputable braider and have her show you examples of her work. Tell her what your problem is and ask her if she can
guarantee her braids. I had a braider who guaranteed her braids for 3 weeks after they were done. If they slid out, you
could have them redone or get your money back.
Some braiders are better than others. Some insist that your hair must be straight so they can work with it. This
means they cannot braid very securely.

I don't encourage you to cut off your new growth. You're just in an awkward length stage and
I think a good braider who works well with natural "frizz" can help you.

I encourage you to try other options such as a wig or a half wig, or a curly
phonytail if your hair is long enough for that, or a new stylist with some fresh ideas of how to work with
natural hair in the climate you live in.

Hi Nita 4! I may try a braided updo I hadn't thought of that before.

Diva4life: I have worn a TWA before. I just don't want to loose the length. As far as a relaxer everytime I relax my hair I loose a lot of hair and it dries out. I had thought about Elucence Relaxers as a last resort.

Xtal:

thanks for the advice. I have gone to many braiders. I have only found one that can braid my hair and that's only in micros. My texture is coarse and frizzy but very fine. My hair looks very very thick when it natural but the minute it is straight....it is thin. I will look around here for another braider.

Auntybe, you may also want to try some natural hairstyles. Go to Napptural.com and look at the pics.

Have you tried braidouts? (not braids...) It will give your hair a nice texture, then you could put it in a bun, updo, or leave it down.

I have been wearing braidouts a lot this summer and it really helps with growth and thickening my hair (think it because I don't wrap, use heat, nor comb/brush while wearing this style

.

Also, try the John Frieda Texture Correcting Serum. It will greatly reduce the frizzies (use it on wet hair). HTH.
