Help: The sun is killing my hair!!!!!

Okay, I have this new part-time job were I spend hours on in the sun and woods. Well at the beginning I was wearing my hair in a puff, but it would dry my hair out and I was worried about bugs getting in my hair. Gross, I know, but anyway. I started to wear a hat and it completely killed my edges. My edges were already weak and now they are terrible. I think in some places it is less than an inch.

So my questions are:

What should I do about my hair drying out so much and protect it from the sun?

What should I use/do to repair my edges?

Thanks in Advance

while you are working outside can you just cornrow your hair so it won't be overly exposed? I don't know..just a thought... I know I have to baby my edges big time they are the most fragile parts on my head:(

Wrapping your hair under a cap it extreme but a option is putting a satin material inside the cap. My winter knit hat are lined with satin. If you know a seamstress this would work or use a cloth glue.

I didn't wear a cap at first either. What I want to know is how do you get your color back after it's sun dyed. The sun has given me highlights and everything. I want it jet black again.

I was having this same issue a while back, the sun was frying my hair and it was feeling crispy, Now that I can cornrow, I just apply Hairveda's whipped shealoe butter and cornrow my hair back and this helps out alot and my ends don't feel crispy and that moisture helps my hair! I tried scarves but it was too hot for that, But I also have a Nice sexy Sunhat that I will wear to. HTH!!

I used tobe natural and found that the sun killed my puff (and so did the winter wind/air)

but moisturize often w/ something w/ sunblock (i think shea butter is a natural sunblock)

but still cover ur hair--maybe with a beenie or scarf--or if u use a hat--make sure not to keep taking it off and on and causin more friction.
Then at night---moisturize and maybe massage in a little castor oil to keep them thick.

Also--try a twist style or box braids--I think braids and twists and a hair covering of some type will help protect your hair.---and keep it bug free lol!

hey, try getting a small 2 to 4 ounce spray bottle,

*mix a heavy condish with rose water or distilled water OR
*mix rosemary oil, vitamin e oil, jojoba oil, OR
*mix water with some of essential oils and lavendar oil (for scent)

and carry it in your purse, spritz throughout the day, to keep it moist and hydrated.

And, have you tried henna? Read up about it. It helps with sun damage, conditions, fortifies the hair.
