Help! Should I relax or just wait?

Until 12/1, I hadn't had a relaxer since March 2008. I had been wearing sew-ins and had my last one removed and had a relaxer done on 12/1. Right before I left the shop, my stylist told me that I needed to come back in four weeks for another relaxer. I was like, "WTH? She's got to be out of her mind." I thought that my hair looked fine and that the relaxer took well.

Okay, so on Saturday (12/6), I decided to shampoo my hair and do a DC and rollerset. Oh my goodness, I had new growth for days! (You can really tell from that awful looking rollerset in my fotki. lol) So I'm a little confused about what I should do. Should I go ahead and try to relax in four more weeks and be sure to put EVOO on the parts that are already relaxed or try to stick it out until like 6-8 weeks to play it safe? 4 weeks just sounds like it's too soon to me, but then again I don't know if I will be able to make it any longer. Heck, I'm just plan confused and apparently "texlaxed"? :) I've included a pic of my "5 day old" relaxer...:ohwell:

I am not a big fan of so called "corrective" relaxers. That just means overlapping IMO..I say wait.

I would say wait......I would consider cornrows or something else, cuz for one thing that's too much money to be paying back to back like that, I mean I just did my relaxer and some parts of my hair is underprocess.....but I'm doing my 4 month stretch again, so IMO wait 6-8 weeks......Good Luck in your decision.

The pics sure do like cuz from what i can see i would say your hair looks great. I had the same experience back in July and i was furious and lost major progess(see pics in my fotki) i felt the same way you now do and i was advised to wait till another six weeks, girl it was madd hard but here i am still almost 20wks post since july's bad experience and i'm sure my hair will thank me for it.
I'm not saying you should stretch that long like i did but it's best you give it at least a six weeks break from the relaxer.

Ladies, thank you soooooo much! I really do appreciate the information. I'm going to take your advice and wait it out! *e-hugs to you all!*

I don't think I'd visit that stylist again. It almost sounds like she purposely underprocessed you so that she could get you to come back in 4 weeks and pay for another relaxer. I wouldn't go back. I don't have any other advice since I'm not relaxed. Your hair does look really good!

Thanks, msa! You know, I think you may be right!

Personally I like the texture of the underprocessed part, yet I understand why you are annoyed if you were going for bone straight. I would definitely try to wait it out a little longer than 4 weeks.

I agree. I would not be surprised if she did that. To the OP, wait until it's time for your next touch-up.
