HELP!!!!! SERIOUS Tangling with 5n1 and Botanoil

Hi everyone,

As suggested I bought the Affirm 5 in 1 from Sheldeez last week, and tried it for the first time last night. After I washed the conditioner out I had serious tangling on going! It seemed rather counterproductive since all of my hair was coming out in the comb...

Has anyone ever had this problem with 5 in 1, or could it be my Nexus Botanoil (which by the way I swear is drying my hair out) ?

Any suggestions... help!

I found the The 5 n 1 left my hair feeling strong but hard at the same time. I immediatley followed up with my Kenra Moisturising conditioner and it softened my hair up well.

I agree. I always follow 5n1 up with a moisturizing conditioner. I don't even bother to detangle while I'm rinsing the 5n1 out.

Oh okay I didn't know that this was necessary... my hairdresser uses this as the last step before she does the relaxer and my hair doesn't seem to be tangled...

Could it be that since I am washing my hair under the tub faucet (not shower) that all of my hair is being pushed forward... and then when I try to comb it back it is getting tangled ?

Maybe I should be washing out conditioners in the shower ?

Washing your hair under the faucet will definitely cause some tangling when you try to push it back the other direction. The force of the water in the shower helps detangle your hair. When you're at the your hairdresser's, she probably uses a shampoo bowl which keeps your hair hanging down and in the same direction at all times. That does a lot to minimize tangling.

I use 5n1 as a treatment conditioner for the specific purpose of strengthening my hair. It doesn't give any slip to my hair so I always like to follow it up with a conditioner that moisturizes, softens, provides slip and actually smells good.

I've never used 5 n1, but several years ago the Botanoil shampoo had my hair looking and feeling like a Brillo pad.

I had tangles on top of tangles...

i use the 5 in 1 and it leaves my hair detangled, soft and full of body!!! I rarely use a moisturizing conditioner afterwards. I have type 4a hair mostly.

I dont use mine with heat, just strictly as the directions indicate 30mins w/ a plastic cap. I used itw/ heat and it left my hair hard and tangled...

I've had similiar adverse experiences with oils, i recently purchased keracare's essential oils and i swear it dried the crap outta my hair. But hey, other people swear by it.

It happened to me when I used heat, now I just follow the instructions and its better. Do follow it up with a moisturising conditioner, it will make detangling easier.

You know what, I did use the 5 n 1 with heat. I tried to use it as a deep conditioner. That's probably why my hair wasn't all soft and moisturized. Next time I'll make sure to skip the heat. It's been a while since I've used it too.

Re: HELP!!!!! SERIOUS Tangling with 5n1 and Bota

I use Affirm's 5 in 1, every week and it does wonders for my hair. I only leave it on for about 10 minutes at the most and follow it up by deep conditioning with a mixture of kenra, pantene smooth and sleek, and a little bit of Jason's sea kelp conditioner. My hair feels wonderful after this.

I have Nexxus Botanoil shampoo, and I hate it!! I used it twice, and now it's sitting in my cabinet, collecting dust!! It leaves my hair feeling so hard!!

Re: HELP!!!!! SERIOUS Tangling with 5n1 and Bota

I sat under my soft bonnet dryer last night with 5-n-1 for about 30 mins and rinse under the shower. My hair came our really detangled and soft. This really strengthens my hair and stop breakage.

Well it sounds like everyone has had different experiences with it. My hairdresser uses it on me after a relaxer and I sit under the dryer and it comes out fine... I'm guessing its the shampoo and the fact that I was holding my head until the faucet, this week I will go back to Therapee and wash it out from underneath the shower head
