Ladies, how do the men in your life deal with razor bumps. What's the best way to prevent them or get them to go away quick? I was told using an electric razor would help but this guy already uses an electric razor and still get bumps.
It just so happens I was discussing this the other day with my man. He said he doesn't get them but his brother does. Oddly enough, he doesn't have to use shaving cream and doesn't get them even with a razor. He said he does it immediately after getting out of the shower. So it's probably something you're prone to or not.
But maybe you can have him make sure his blades are straight, clean and even. The bumps are usually from in-grown hairs so maybe that will help in your search.
My friend use to get them bad so after asking him this is what he does.
Don't shave at an angle and if possible don't shave against the grain
Give your face a rest between shavings
Soften your face before shaving with warm water to open the pores more
Always apply shaving cream to the skin before shaving and allow the shaving cream to sit on your face for a couple of minutes
Don't shave the same area more than twice
avoid using those trendy 2, 3, and 4 blade razors, you should because those blades tend to lift and snap the hair back into place, giving you a closer shave and causing razor bumps.
Apply rubbing alchohol to the blades before and after each use. Change the blades frequently.
Tea tree oil and witch hazel (I didn't even know he knew about those) help with flare ups and irritation.
I saw a show that was giving a black man a makeover. The man that was shaving him was talking about hair bumps on African American men. Because their facial hair is curly hair, as it grows out as soon as the strand hits the surface it curls back into the skin.
~He said shaving after getting out of the shower or steaming the face is good.
~Use straight razors or blades (not to use double or triple razors/blades. they are bad for black men faces).
~And not stretching and pulling the face/skin while shaving is bad too.
My SO suffers with razor bumps and has started regular exfoliaton and has very little problems with them now. Although it did take around a month for it to kick in.
