Hi *Waves* I have been trying to grow my hair for a few months after years of neglect.. my last relaxers was over 5 years ago.. it thinned and broke off my hair terrible i was in denial for many years until someone told me, "what happen to you hair its so thin and short".. basically it went from mid back to around ear length over the coarse of 3 years, about 2 years ago i started trying to maintain it....

Anyway this board has so much info i just dont know where to start and the search function doesnt seem to be working for me even when i use the "how to" at the top of the forum...

Basically is there one thing the "it" thing that everyone uses.. what do you use and is it working for you? basically any info in this one spot would be helpful...

Below are pics of my hair...

Here's my 3 day old hair completly dry i put some aloe in it the first day...

From the pics your hair looks cute.

But there's no one "it" thing everyone uses. My advice to someone trying to build up a haircare routine would be to find a good daily moisturizer and good deep conditioner. Moisturized hair is always easier to manage.

I've been using Sunsilk captivating curls and Africa's Best Shea Butter Plus (which is thicker) for daily moisturizers. And I use Organic Root Stimulator's conditioning pak for deep conditioning.

one product wont do it...and we use so many different things its a crying shame. like semo said, start with more moisture and go from there to build your regimen.

I haven't come up with one yet... flipping throw old albums i never really knew how long my hair was i just knew it was longer.. here's a pic of my hair a year before the horrible perm...

Anyway all the products I used back then they either dont make anymore or they added different ingredients... So right now, i'm just using..

Shampoo: T-Gel, Suave, fructis, J/a/s/o/n, Creme of nature..

Conditioner: Suave, fructis, Several different kinds of cholesterol oil, as well as some others basically i just rotate shampoos and conditioners i really dont have a routine with them...

Gels I always use either aloe with little shea butter or carrot cream...

Unless i'm going out then i use a harsh gel like herbal essences, la bella or pantene

To get started, here's what you may need:

Some suggestions

A good moisturizing poo:
1. Creme of Nature (old green or red label, NOT the new orange packaging)
2. Elucence Moisture Benefits Shampoo
3. Elasta QP Creme Conditioning Shampoo

A good moisturizing conditioner:
1. Elucence Moisture Balancing
2. Elasta QP Intense

A good protein conditioner
1. ORS Mayo
2. Aubrey Organics GPB
3. ApHogee 2 Minute Reconstructor

A good deep conditoner:
1. (Can somebody help me out with this one? I'm still searching myself)
2. People seem to like Lustrasilk Cholesterols and ORS Replenishing Conditioner
3. Regis DesignLine Olive Oil Masque

A good leave-in:
1. Regular conditioner (Elucence, Elasta, Suave/V05)
2. Giovanni Direct Leave-in

A styler:
1. Your Aloe Vera Gel should work

Try a basic regimen like:

Shampooing 1x a week and then conditioning (regular, deep, or protein, alternate)
Apply a leave-in and then your gel.
A couple days later, you could co-wash with a cheapie Suave/V05 conditioner, apply your leave-in and gel (assuming you don't want to co-wash everyday, and you can achieve 2nd, 3rd day hair).
A couple days after that, start the cycle over again.

Since it's so basic, you could try it and tweak it and add to it to your hairs liking. HTH!

Sounds like you're doing fine nowadays, now that you're back into taking care of your hair. Unless you're having problems (like dryness, tangling or breakage) I wouldn't worry about trying to drop everything you're doing for a new routine.

Your hair was very long and pretty and I'm sure you'll have no problems regaining the length if you're patient.

Thanks everyone....yeah seems like everyone is basically doing what i'm already doing I guess it's just trail and error... Tsuprincess I printed that out lol..i'll be trying most of those products i have a few...
